Heartbreaker is right . Rockcastle is average without Hammonds. The problem is a average team could win our region with no problem. 12th region is weak as any this year.

Maybe Sara can go out with a Ms. Basketball and a state championship. She has been a class act for 6 years and a great boon to girls basketball interest in the 12th region.

Scott had absolutely no answer for Sara Hammond. She was totally dominating. They tried to guard her with 2-3 girls and that just left the rest of the girls wide open. I was very impressed !

I thought it would have been smart for Coach Noble to strenghen her schedule this year to get ready for tournament. With the competition level down in the 12th region , it might have been wise to schedule some of the top teams around the state.

Saw Rock scrimmage Woodford this week. Sara looked awesome and the Hunter girl was a demon on defense. I thought the rest of the girls looked a little out of snyc, but its very early yet. They will miss Alexanders outside shooting more than I realized and her defense down low. Some of the Woodford crowd commented that Sara was the best player they had ever competed against. I believe Rock will be ready to compete for state come March!!

Knox will knock the fight out of Rowan in first half and go on to win by 3 touchdowns.

This one will be over in the first quarter. Clock running will be only thing to keep Bell under 60 points. Lawrence will be fortunate to get a first down in the first half.

The Hunter girl is a sophomore and Jackie has gone to college. The rest of their players are mostly five foot four or less. If she gets in foul trouble Rock will be in trouble indeed. I can't think of 5 upperclassmen on the bench , much less that could start for most teams. I am told that outside the Hunter girl that they are pretty weak in lower three classes.

Teams in 12th region will sure be glad to see Sarah Hammond graduate. She has carried Rock to 2 Regional championships and my guess is this will be the third. She has took a team of otherwise average players and turned it into a state tournament contender. I would vote her as the most dominant player in history of 12th region.

Rock will stay close for 3 quarters then fold like a tent. They have done this the last 2 weeks and will repeat it this week. These boys don't have the toughness of past teams and it will show up against a good Lawrence County team. Rock has absolutely no passing game and when these teams load the box Rock can't move the ball. Lawrence wins pulling away 28 to 14.

I look for Bell to win by 3 touchdowns or more. After this year all indications are Harlan will probably have the upper hand in this series and probably the dominant program in Eastern Kentucky. Their administration is totally behind the program and numbers are up. Can't think of many schools where this is the case.

Great game by 2 very even teams. Luckily Rock tried some trickery and fumbled or Warriors would have been in trouble. Wildcat with # 20 and # 33 is very difficult to stop. Blocked punt before half was the difference in the game. I saw Rock earlier in the year and they are a much better team now with some younger players contributing. I hope the warriors can make some noise in the playoffs, good luck to both teams.

As a former player I can't imagine Coach Saylor not being on the sideline. Any former player in the last 20 years will tell you he was the spirit of Rock football. He was the best I ever saw at getting a defense in position from the sideline. Coach Saylor left the sideline for the press box and turned over the defensive play calling to younger coaches about 5 years ago. In my and several other former players opinion this was a huge blow to the defense. I know everyone has to slow down but it doesn't make it any easier to take. Good luck Rock !!

Rock football has gone down for a couple of reasons 1. Our school administration changed about 5-6 years ago and very little emphasis is placed on the football program. 2. Coach Larkey was 5-5 his last season here and probably saw the writing on the wall. 3. For years Knox was a automatic win giving us 2 home playoff games every year , no longer true . Our fan support suffered when we left a district with Corbin, Somerset and Middlesboro who were close rival games for a district with Perry Central, Knott Central and Knox Central who were all easy wins at the time but brought out less fans . Winning is great but if your games are 2 hour drives to teams with a small fan base it will eventually affect your support. I doubt Rock will be able to come back in a 6 class system .
