Rock playing a lot of man-to-man. Getting ready for tourney.

Coach Noble celebrated 400 wins and Angie Lawrence celebrated 1,000 point club.

As so often this year, out early and never looked back.

Pittman dressed and warmed up with no apparent ill effects.

I know nothing about the situation but looked to me like she could be back in action before tournament time.

A great athlete. Glad she is recovering from the knee.

It appears as if "the Rock" is gaining more and more momentum in the direction of Bowling Green. If it indeed does happen, hopefully some justice will be served to compensate for the controversial ending to their season last year. Good luck ladies.

Rock is no doubt the odds on favorite to win the region! They have all the parts and arguably the best player in the state on their team. With that being said, I wouldn't overlook anyone in a one game situation in the region. In a NBA 7 series match up there isn't anyone in the 12th that can compete with them. In a one and done situation strange things tend to happen! I still think Rock wins it but they will have to battle!

I think they get knocked off in region......take Hammond away and they are very average.

Hammond is easily best player in state, and I think they will win state. Rocks j.v. team could make a serious run at 12th region championship. They could play their worst game of the year without Hammonds and the next team could play their best game of year and Rock would win by double digits!!

Heartbreaker is right . Rockcastle is average without Hammonds. The problem is a average team could win our region with no problem. 12th region is weak as any this year.

Really? Next time you get a chance look at the ratings that come out. Take the #8 team in each region (that is normally the middle of each region) and compare them with all the other number #8 teams. It will give you an idea of the sort of balance that the 12th has. The 12th has TWO regions (11th and 7th) that their #8 team has a higher rating. That should mean that the 12th isn't as "weak as any this year." By the way, this was taken from Friday's edition of the courier journal and Rock was #3 and Lincoln was #18. Not bad for a region "as weak as any" in the the state!

Strength of region, in my opinion, is determined by how well top 3-4 teams could compete with other top teams in the state. The last couple of years I thought 12th was strong because Rock, Lincoln and Casey were all capable of playing to Saturday in the state tournament. Only 1 team in 12th is capable of that this year !!

If you are going by that then yes I agree that the 12th isn't that strong but honestly how many regions have multiple teams with the ability to play on Saturday morning? I would say not many! 1st, 2nd and 3rd have no one that will play on Saturday morning. 4th has one team (Bowling Green) with an outside shot, 5th has two with a chance (Marion and E-town) but their number 3 is Hart and they are at 80, 6th has 1 (Butler but that's a long shot), 7th has 3 (Manual, Mercy and SH) but that has to be the strongest in the state, 8th and 10th has no team that can go to Saturday, 9th has two (Boone and Ryle), 11th has Scott County but they are out of the top 10 so it would have to go just right for them, 12th has Rock (with Lincoln being a strong team but Saturday morning is a stretch), 13th has Clay but no one even close to them, 14th has Perry Central and no one close to them (Both of those teams would be a stretch for Saturday morning) and 15th/16th has no one.

 

With those stats only the 7th has a legit shot of multiple teams that could win region and advance to Saturday morning. I would say the 12th still wouldn't be classified as "weaker than most." With your comment about Rock, Lincoln and Casey. Heck, they were #2, #3 and #?? respectively. I'd say not only was it strong it was one of THE strongest in the state but I'm sure I've screwed this up as well....

One additional comment:

Rock has won 14 of 18 wins by 18 or more points.

Rock plays extremely tough man-to-man. That takes a lot more than just Sarah Hammond.

First 7 or 8 players all play regularly and all play the man very well. They beat a lot of teams that have hot shots.

Hammond may likely be player of the year depending on how they do at Diddle, (if they go), and she only averages 18 a game.

She is a great playmaker along with everything else.

But don't underestimate them as a one woman team.

(And they have one of the premier coaches and coaching staffs in KY girls basketball.)

Trust me.... I'm not trashing Rockcastle! I'm defending the region..... I LOVE watching Sarah play! She SHOULD win Miss Basketball and hopefully Rock (or whoever comes out of the 12th) wins it all! I'm a personal friend of Coach Noble! She is a great coach but I've always been a 12th region fan!! With that being said this debate is over how strong our region is. Should Rock win it? Absolutely! Is the rest of the region a bunch of weak, not well coached and no skills at all set of teams? Heck no... I'm comparing them across the board in the state. I know all you guys (leg17, NearUS150 and Rednack) are Rock homers! That's great... Everyone needs to have a team to defend but I would think you guys would want to ENCOURAGE how good the region is as opposed to tearing down the other teams. I just don't get it....
