You are misreading me completely. I was defending the Rock against the "take Hammond away and they are very average" comments.

I'm not knocking the twelfth at all. When Rock didn't go to Diddle we were very proud of Casey and Wayne. And if you look over my comments you will see I have always had a lot of respect for Lincoln County. Regionals battles between Lincoln and Rockcastle and Casey have been great for years. I'm not tearing anybody down.

Yea, they are not as good without Hammonds in the game but there have been several time when she has been in foul trouble and others have stepped up. When they played Clay Co., after she went out of the game they actually increased their lead. We won't win a state championship without her but these girls are a little above average even without her IMO.

I can't but results/standings and just plain odds can. A team out of the 1st(92), 2nd (80), 3rd (91), 8th (93), 10th (87), 15th (85) and 16th (86) would have to win TWO games against really good teams to get to Saturday morning. The sweet 16 draw hasn't happened yet so there is a chance that the stars could align for one of them and someone like the 12th could play the 7th in the first couple of rounds and would knock out some contenders there but think about it.... On a given night ANYONE can lose. I will go with that. SOMETIMES a team that is a 20 point underdog (according to ratings) could beat TWO teams that are better but doesn't happen often. With the top teams into the 100's (7th at 119, 12th 106, 4th 106, 9th 104 and 5th at 103) Realistically it all comes down to the draw as to who gets to Saturday. The draw is one of major players in this tournament anyway.

Pfffft, I figured a 30 point spanking would put you into reality. Did you watch the game? Rock's JV was dominating Caseys varsity when the time came for Rock to play JV. I would also note that college scouts would disagree with you. Angie Lawrence has been offered by D1 schools, Makayla Hunter (a sophmore) has D1 schools suchh as UofL interested and two other seniors has NAIA offers.

With the way the schedule looks in the weeks leading into the postseason, I think they'll be challenged a few times. Madison Central (Jan. 31), Bryan Station (Feb. 8), Southwestern (Feb. 11) and Elizabethtown (Feb. 12) should be good games to test the Lady Rockets. I wouldn't even count out tonight's Mercer County game or North Laurel on Feb. 4 as being a game that could be challenging.

To my knowledge Hammonds is the only girl on Rocks team to be offered by a D1.

Actually Angie Lawrence has received several LOI's from D-1 schools, such as Kennesaw State, Georgia Southern,and Jacksonville. All the other LOI's are from D-2, D-3 or NAIA schools. According to her family, the only offers she has had are from D-2, Coker College in South Carolina and NAIA- Georgetown College.

I believe Rock is the favorite to win the region, but don't underestimate Casey County. The amount of serious competition the Lady Rebels can offer Rock hinges on the return of Megan Pittman, and she has been good so far in her first two games back. Nicole Coffman continues to average 22 points and nine boards so if Pittman is able to get back to 90% of normal, the Lady Rebels could become a formidable foe. This team managed to go 14-4 without one of the best players in the region (behind Hammonds), so getting her back can't do anything but improve their chances.
