  1. Ironic that Hazard and Perry get 2-3 transfers a year and it is ok because it is just 1-2, yet 13 is over the line. Ironic that the kid that turned them in was eligible at Hazard. Either open it up or shutdown all transfers. KHSAA is a joke and politics play a roll in every decision.
  2. Schedule isn't a problem, you can always find games. If they get to play this year, KHSAA might as well fold and get renamed, as they are done.
  3. I think they will end up playing KHSAA games. Hazard, Perry Central, and June Buchanon all have new players/transfers.
  4. Christi Noble - Rockcastle County She isn't on the list either......list = no go.
  5. If I could like this 1,000 times I would.
  6. I think it will be interesting, I think some coaches will have an issue with it, and I think in the end it will be the same brutal game in some regions.
  7. I misspoke. Not technically a point of NFHS point of emphasis, but what you saw at the beginning of the NCAA last, is what will be called in high school this year. Hand contact more than once or with two hands, arm bar, etc. is supposed to be called. I hope they do, but certain teams will get away with it while others will not.
  8. The point of emphasis on the hands, forearms, and pushing will not be called correctly. You can bet on it.
  9. If you are at school that has that kind of success in football, you have to embrace it and roll with it. It is not easy and takes some pride swallowing but trust me, being at a school with great success is way better than being at a school with little to no success in anything. Winning cultures are hard, VERY HARD, to grow and nurture.
  10. How deep and for how many years? I'm not saying it can't happen, but it is not the norm. Johnson Central is the most complete athletic program in the 15th, but they are the biggest school by a large margin and most of their basketball players do not play football. They also don't win football state titles like Belfry and Highlands.
  11. As someone who is a basketball guy but a football fan I'll give you an honest answer. Some will dismiss it but that is ok. If you are a successful football school in Kentucky and smaller than Trinity and Scott County it is almost impossible to be successful in both. Why? If your teams makes it to the semi-finals or finals every single year( Belfry, Highlands are the main two that come to mind) then your kids who play both miss out on 6 weeks of practice - and not just in-season practice, pretty much all pre-season where fundamentals and conditioning are the focus. Do that for 4 years and you miss the equivalent of 1 ENTIRE season. That is close to impossible to overcome. I am also a person that thinks a kid should play as many sports as possible, for as long as possible. Youth basketball is also more important than football. The MAJORITY of schools just treat youth basketball as an after thought or a money maker, PERIOD. There is a reason that not to many successful football schools below actually 5A numbers win both state titles and region titles.
  12. I would love for them to play Belfry.
  13. John Kitchen is the name I remember from those teams, had a good career at UPike. Solid teams.
  14. EC had Todd Conley and Marin Mandolovich and they won the 15th in 1993. They beat by Male pretty bad in the Sweet 16. To be honest the Belfry team that year was about even with EC. Allen Central had Jeremy Hall, Thomas Jenkins, and a Martin kids I think. Got beat by state champ Fairdale in the quarters.
  15. That Belfry team would have been even better if their center would not have went down to a knee injury at the end of the year. The Paintsville team that won the title is the best of the group.
  16. JC can play with KCC, they actually matchup pretty well. JC would have problems with Justice, Knott will have issues with Salyer, and Gullet/Hall will be a nice matchup. Knott is better 1-2, but JC is better 3-5.....just my opinion.
  17. Nope, very nice player. They have a lot to replace.
  18. No. They are 9/10, unless they get a transfer or 2, I do not see them beating Knott or any of those teams away from Perry.
  19. Rowan, Boyd, Clay, Knox, Lawrence Co., Johnson Central, Knott Co., Hazard - That is your top 8. Knott is way ahead. Lawrence and Johnson Central are close 2/3. After that, all about the same.
  20. You serious? Knott is #1, Cordia will be the worst team in the area, Lawrence, talent wise, is right behind Knott, and the rest are all about the same.
  21. Then how is he eligible at Hazard?
  22. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Week 0 games going away soon?
