  1. Should beat Navy and Temple but East Carolina and Tulane will both be tough games... Especially if they play like they did today and no adjustments are made going forward. ECU just beat UCF by 21 in Greenville last week then went and won at BYU Friday night. Tulane is currently top 25 with a win over the same Kansas State team that blasted Oklahoma St today. Good thing both of those games are at Nippert because UC has looked bad on the road this year. A lot of issues with the oline as well. Returned all 5 starters but not getting push up front and seem to have regressed from last season. That is another area where fans are questioning the coaching. Lorenz Metz was an all conference guard last season and preseason this year but hasn't played much because the new OL coach doesn't like the idea of having a 6'9 guard. Losing Jake Renfro at center to a preseason injury has been a big loss as well. This loss has probably been brewing for a few weeks. Hopefully Fick turns up the heat on his coordinators to make some changes.
  2. Playing against a back up QB and Tressel is still rushing 3 and using Ivan Pace as a spy. It makes zero sense. Especially on the UCF game winning drive. Put pressure on Keene. He is no where close to being the running threat that Plumlee is. Keene had all day to throw and move the ball down the field on that last drive. And when it comes to Gino, UCF was bringing 8 every 3rd down and playing a cover 0 in the secondary.... Yet no screen or wheel route was called in those obvious situations. Bearcats can still make the CCG but will have to win out to do so.
  3. 19 game conference winning streak comes to an end with a loss in Orlando. All around embarrassing performance. Players and coaches. Fickell needs to make some serious changes before the move to the Big 12 because Tressel and Gino aren't the answers.
  4. They had multiple opportunities to put SMU away and didn't. Combination of dumb penalties to extend drives, dropped passes in the end zone by Nick Mardner while wide open, and for the first time this season : poor coaching decisions. I typically avoid questioning the coaches but a lot of head scratchers today. - Up 17-0 , Fick goes for it at UC 's own 40 on 4th and 1 instead of punting. SMU stops them and then scores 3 plays later. - A lot of situations where the wrong call was made by Gino on offense. RG3 was the color commentator and he started to question the offensive play calling as well. They have to get Josh Whyle and Leonard Taylor more involved. Very predictable right now. - 4th qtr, Tressel quit bringing pressure and started playing a shell defense to keep everything in front with 3 linemen rushing. Quit being aggressive and it almost cost them. Fick and UC have been really good out of bye weeks the past few years. Today was a total disappointment. Hopefully they clean things up before the game against UCF next week. Winner of that game probably ends up hosting the CCG.
  5. Final in Dallas. Bearcats were lucky to escape with the W. Extremely undisciplined game with 14 penalties for 125 yards, including 30 yards in penalties on the SMU TD drive that made the score 29-27 with 1:55 left. Jumped out to a 17-0 lead and went in to the half up 20-14. Extended the lead to 29-14 with 3 field goals then had a FG blocked that would have extended the lead to 32-14. Have to play better next week in Orlando or they will take an L.
  6. Should ... But it's never easy winning on the road and they're pretty banged up right now. Injuries have piled up these past two weeks. Ivan Pace played sparingly yesterday as well because of an injury.
  7. Ugly game but a win is a win. Defense struggled to get off the field on 3rd down and offense couldn't convert on 3rd down. Hopefully the injury to Tyler Scott isn't serious. Saw him on the sidelines in an air cast during the 2nd half. Corey Kiner also didn't dress because of an injury. Ben Bryant left the game in the second half after taking a big hit as well. Offense looked pretty good with Evan Prater. He brings such a different dynamic with his ability to run the RPO. Bye week couldn't come at a better time. Get healthy and get ready for a road trip to SMU in two weeks.
  8. Wes was in Florida yesterday to visit with Jizzle James.... And shortly after he announced he will make his college decision tonight at 9. National analyst Travis Branham thinks he picks UC.
  9. For whatever reason, Tulsa always plays UC tough. One of the few teams in the conference that actually match the Bearcats' physicality. Tulsa seems to play up to their competition. Lost at #14 Ole Miss 35-27 last week.... But also lost at Wyoming 40-37 in double OT in week one after going up 34-24 to start the 4th qtr.
  10. First time actually watching UK this year... Barion Brown is going to be a problem for the SEC over the next few years. He was really impressive.
