  1. I am looking at the schedule and really dont see a team that could beat the birds. Then I look at the other 5A teams and there is no competition. So is anyone going to realistically challenge Highlands this year?
  2. Unless they lose to Highlands which would not help them at all with the ratings
  3. You don't get it do you? Most of the time I dont respond to your factless posts. The team that had one decent season and you act like they are winning the superbowl. News to you, Simon Kenton will not win the state championships this year so stop acting like they are going to be national champions. Again, what you write down are not thoughts, they are far far far far fetched dreams. The moderators should create a board just for you and call it a wish list.
  4. I have to write it also because you are officially the least informed football fan in the history of the Bluegrasspreps website. Scott was a district opponent! Are you really trying to compare Highlands football history to Simon Kenton football history? The scheduling doesnt even compare. You are hurting your program because most of the people on this board (which are some of the biggest High School football fans in the state) will be cheering against Simon Kenton this upcoming year because of irrational fans like you. You remind me a lot of Lane Kiffin in the sense that you try to much to draw attention to yourself, but when it comes down to it you are wrong and your opinions are based on your dreams instead of fact. I don't care if Simon Kenton won a few games last year in the playoffs, they were not nearly as good as you say they were. Their season was not "Great." A "Great" season doesn't end in a loss, like Simon Kenton's season did last year. The rest of Simon Kentons fans deserve an apology from you for your embarassment of your school, community, and yourself. I will quote Billy Madison ,"what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it." Your posts are so stupid that I am begginning to think you are on here as a joke to stir up contreversy. Are you being serious when you post ukfan?
  5. I believe bcRebel asked you if you think Simon Kenton will be better or worse than last year. So do you think they will be better or worse? Stop dancing around the question
  6. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul
  7. Highlands was punished for using an eligible player. There is a good chance that the deserved wins will be returned to Highlands which will most likely happen after July 9th, when Brigid Devries (Current KHSAA Commissioner) retires. When she does retire it will be a positive for all people involved in high school athletics in the state of Kentucky.
  8. I was not a fan of the Jet Sweep, it involved too much running.
  9. You have a better chance of finding an eskimo in the desert than you will find a non-playoff team in Kentucky.
  10. I agree, when I talk about being a division 1 football player, it is promotion of division 1 because it is the highest level of play. I am not trying to make people that have a personal connection to someone feel like "their kid" isn't as good as he actually is. I am just simply saying that division 1 is the highest and best football. It is hard to argue that if there is a division 1 football player, he is not good enough at football. I am not saying that to be good enough you need a full ride to USC or Florida, I am just saying that division 1 is good enough in the context of the origonal question.
  11. haha thats all it is? When you start listing green county as a good team, the conversation needs to end.
  12. Imagine what kinda of yards that either Pike or Towles would throw againt the Lone Oak schedule
  13. ...................................total boys Trinity Enrollment: .......1400 1400 Private St.X Enrollment: ..........1456 1456 Private Highlands Enrollment:....800 400 Public #'s according to wikipedia which should be fairly accurate This means that Trinity and St. X have roughly 3.5 times more boys that Highlands. That means 1000 more boys. Do you think that has anything to do with depth? The private/ public debate is what it is and I won't go there, but it should be mentioned.
  14. This is a football website, not an academic site. There is not a thread for which school kids choose to attend because of academics. I am not talking about in life, I am talking about football. I honestly don't care about some genius that goes to Yale. A player that is not good enough to go division-1 is not good enough to go division-1. Whereas a player good enough to go division 1 is good enough to play at any other level if he chooses. Someone could work harder than anyone and be absolutly horrible at playing football. Working hard only gets you so far. I am not a person to give out trophys to everyone. I am not saying it is bad to be smart or bad to be good at other things, I am just saying that that this is a football website and I come here to talk about football.
  15. Which shoe reps? I am talking from personal experience. Plastic spikes just don't dig in that well, especially in the rain.
  16. There is nothing like metal tipped cleats. They just grab the ground better. The plastic tips are lighter but can slip slightly because they do not have as good of a grip.
  17. I remember there was an article that was in some major sports magazine (I forget which, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, I don't know) that deemed the Male Trinity game as the best high school football game ever. 2 Nationally ranked teams going head to head in a crazy game like that was amazing to watch. I remember Male's best defense was onside kicks because they couldn't stop Trinity. That was the best/most exciting game on any level that I have ever seen.
  18. There are 199 division 3 schools. 148 division 2 teams. 111 Division 1 teams (formerly 1-aa). 91 naia schools and 120 division 1 fbs teams. You can give me all the numbers you want about lower divisions producing nfl players, but they also have much more teams combined. There are 549 non-division 1 fbs teams vs. 120 division 1 fbs teams. I don't want to give out the impression that I don't respect other divisions besides d1fbs, i just feel you can't argue that a player is "good enough" if he accpets a division 1 scholarship.
  19. So a kid that is absolutly horrible at football is good enough because he works hard? Maximizing your potential doesnt mean you are good at all. You could personally work harder than any football player on earth and still be absolutly terrible at the game of football. In fact I would go out and say that often the most dedicated hardest workers are not the best players. We are talking about the best football players in this thread, not the hardest workers. People who work hard have a greater chance at succeeding, but it doesnt nescissarily mean they are good at what they do. Natural talent is very important in football. A kid who is an 5'8" o-lineman is already not going to make it to d1 because he is not naturally good enough to make it there. He is naturally not "good enough" to make it there. A player without any arms is not going to be a QB no matter how hard he tries. It's nice to give kids a moral victory, but even if someone works hard, they could still be the worst player on a team.
  20. Well you didn't answer the origonal question... what is "good enough"?
  21. But when you watch a football game, how often do you wonder what the kids GPA is. And people talked about not being athletically gifted, what about people that are not academically inclined? I do agree that being a good student is a good thing, but I don't believe being a good student automatically makes you good on the football field. And as I said earlier, I am basing my opinion on athletics only. A player who is inbetween D1 or a lower level is often selling himself short academically or athletically. The player goes to a good school with worse football or a worse school with good football.
  22. First of all they play for a lower level because they are not "good enough" to get playing time on a D1 team. If they were "good enough" they would play over the person in front of them. I said I am talking from only an athletics standpoint. I understand that you have to have grades to play and what not, but honestly it doesn't matter to me how the players do in the classroom as long as they are eligible. Again strictly an athletics standpoint. 30 years ago schools were able to give out more scholarships. Today schools can't afford to give out scholarships to sub par players. You could go with a case by case basis on a lot of things but look at the percentages, the players that are "good enough" to play D1, play D1. There will always be a few exceptions but in general the "good enough "talent for D1 is in D1.
  23. You just proved my point even more! They are not "good enough" because they wouldn't get playing time. If they were "good enough" they would have a role on a D1 team whether it is starting, special teams only, etc. If players are so worried about playing time that they choose a lower level school, then they don't think they are good enough to play D1.
  24. I agree that education is important, however in this thread I am talking about football only. No other outside influences or anything. Stricktly from an athletic standpoint. I am not saying these players are losers or anything, I just wish they had the confidence in themselves to go play D1 football. And they may eventually do that. Through this thread and talking about what "good enough" is according to the first post, I am on the fence. The players are obviously "good enough" to play D1 football, I guess in my opinion they are selling themselves short. This is not a knock on anyone or any personal attack, I just believe D1 is the ultimate of college football, and thats when you know you made it. look at it this way, there are professional baseball players that play in the minors, but when people think of professional baseball players, it's the players in the majors.
