  1. If a player doesn't go D1 and they have the opportunity to, means they don't think they are good enough to go D1, or they are afraid of competition. The Aaron example, he was not "good enough" to play D1 at those other positions because he wasn't offered there. My point is that a ton of kids are "recruited" by D1 schools, but only the ones that are "good enough", get offers. I believe they have to accept the offer to be good enough because i think that is part of the criteria of being good enough. They need to believe in themselves and not be so afraid of competition.
  2. I retract my comment about him on being the board of control. He was at the time but I do not know how he voted or what went down.
  3. First of all, yes. I will give you 19 reasons why Highlands is a better program than yours (as long as you didn't attend Trinity haha) The year I graduated high school we wanted to play NCC so bad and they wanted to play us really bad, but there is only 1 reason we didn't play... Bob Schneider. I think but I am not 100% sure but he was on the board of control of the KHSAA at the time they took wins away from Highlands when the courts ruled that he was eligible. Again I am not sure, but I believe he had influence on that decision. If someone could clear that up it would help. Look I am sure he is a good guy, I just don't agree with some of his decisions.
  4. Dale can't stand Cov. Cath... I don't understand the logic behind it, if you don't like a school, then beat them. He may just not like Highlands and realize that NCC couldnt beat them. What is the reason Bob can't stand Highlands?
  5. I would have loved to play against Bob and NCC... Unfortunately I did not get the to opportunity because he wouldn't schedule Highlands in the latter part of his career.
  6. Coaches did not think he was good enough in high school to get a division 1 scholarship, or he would have been offered by a D1 school. In fact he wasn't even that great in college. His senior year he had 92 completions on 173 attempts. Thats 53% and he only had 6 touchdowns and 11 interceptions finishing 2-6-1. For his career he only had 32 td's and 45 interceptions. That is beside the point, Phil Simms is 55 years old. That is 37 years ago when he finished high school (Assuming he was 18 when he graduated). Recruiting is extremely different today.
  7. Here is the Rivals Chad Lawrence page if anyone wants to see http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Chad-Lawrence-112508
  8. I still have to wait and see him start at QB is a varsity game, but I am beginning to believe he is good enough to go major conference D1. http://recruiting.scout.com/2/967998.html
  9. Furthermore, almost any player that is even decent in High School can play at some school, and if they are good enough after that year they can transfer to a D1 program.
  10. I agree with that, although I do believe that D1 coaches are good about finding talent.
  11. Of course natural talent has a ton to do with being good at football or else the hardest and smartest workers would be the best. That is not the case in football. I believe the player that best puts a team in the situation to win the game should play, and not nescessarily the hardest worker.
  12. I don't understand your point. Joe Flacco played division 1 football. Deleware is division 1, Pitt is division 1 fbs. Please tell me what you mean about Joe Flacco and how it is not in agreement with earlier posts. Pierre Garcon was not a great high school football player. If you are "good enough" in high school you get a division 1 scholarship. He developed late as a college player and became a NFL player. In high school he was not "good enough" to get a division 1 scholarship. Show me where he was offered by a d-1 school and turned it down and chose to play for a d-3 school. This is a high school website where we talk about high school football. The judgement that college coaches make on how talented player are on how the players perform in high school.
  13. Hello Joe Flacco How were your first 2 years playing at the University of Pittsburgh a division 1 fbs team? Then you went to Deleware which is also a division 1 program! I hope you don't play well this year so the Bengals can sweep you again. Sincerely Thenamerobdigity
  14. I think you will be right on 1 of these predictions and that is not winning the state championship. and a team can't go 11-2 and go to the semi finals. I will remember these predictions. Again I ask you to take it when SK slips back to being a mediocre team.
  15. Dude Simon Kenton is not that good... You had 1 decent year buddy and you act like Simon Kenton is a team that should be nationally ranked. Simon Kenton won't win the state championship this year and you have no credibility to anything you say on this board. I feel sorry for other SK fans that you have to embarass your school like that. I just ask you to please come back to the board and take it when SK finds their way back to mediocrity. Please tell me your following predictions: 1. What will SK's record be this year? 2. How many SK players will go to division 1 schools? 3. Will SK win the State Championship? 4. How far do you think SK will go in the playoffs?
  16. Anything less than D1 is not good enough for D1. Secondly, if you are talking about me, I did not criticize anyone for not making it division 1, I said that they are not "good enough" for division 1 if they dont get offered and accept a d1 scholarship. Third, you somewhat lose your credibility because your promise was pretty much wrong. I chose not to play football in college, however I was offered scholarship money to play football. I elected not to play and I told my high school coach if I wasn't going to get a D1 scholarship then my heart wasn't in it.
  17. So what is your definition of good enough?
  18. I am looking at the High School level because this is a high school site... a player good enough coming out of high school will play division 1... If he didnt play division 1 he is not good enough or not confident enough in his abilities to play division 1. And in college there are other things besides football that are required; academics, not being afraid of competition, having to take care of someone, etc. If a player doesn't make it to the NFL then he was not good enough as a college player. The origonal post question: "When is getting a college scholarship to play football good enough? When is being in the top tier of a sport good enough? When is just being "Good" good enough?" My answer is good enough is accepting a division 1 scholarship. If a player doesn't get a scholarship from a divsion 1 team, he is not good enough to get a scholarship or not confident enough in his abilities and rather took the route of playing weaker competition. If he was good enough he would get an offer from a d1 school.
  19. Larry Allen didn't graduate high school. That's probably the reason he didn't go D1.
  20. I'm just not a big believer in the giving "Everyone a trophy" idea. I am just saying that you can't argue that someone wasn't good enough when they go to the highest level.
  21. Do you really want a list of division 1 players that are or were nfl stars? It's like the go to Kurt Warner played in the arena league. I just think in the context of the origonal post, people can no longer arugue if a player is good enough when they accept a divsion 1 scholarship.
  22. It's a context question and my interpretation is athletics only. Players can be happy if they play for some small non-d1 school, but I don't believe that is good enough. D1 is good enough athletically at least. I guess I say this is because it is the top of college. You can't argue that someone is GOOD ENOUGH if they play at the highest level of competition. My question is, how many d-2 d-3 or NAIA players end up in the NFL? How many division 1 players end up in the NFL?
