  1. You forgot the main point of this arguement. The Mitchells won the court case!!! Highlands did not roll the dice. They played Mike when he was eligible and didn't play him when he was ruled ineligible. In the end the Mitchells won the case and he would have been eligible the whole time.
  2. He was not going to play at Cov Cath his senior year. I say that if he was to sit out his senior year he would not have recieved a scholarship. His only d-1 scholly was to Ohio U. There are rules that make it so people don't transfer. Too bad for Cov Cath that he was within those rules.
  3. Funny really ... If Mitchell would not have played his senior year he would have not had the scholarship or been in the NFL. Well if it were up to me I would say that he made the correct decsion by going to Highlands. He is in the NFL. He may not have done that at Cov Cath. Nice flowery wording on the "school he dedicated himself to." The school that he dedicated himself to was Highlands. Trust me, he is not a fan of Cov Cath, therefore he was not dedicated to that school. You made my point though. The Board of Controls should take into consideration of what is best for the kid and in this case they didn't.
  4. I believe that they moved there, Mike is a good friend and i gave him a ride home from school or practice quite often. You keep presenting information without any FACTS.
  5. Highlands could have refused to play Mitchell and therefore not give him a chance to play while recieveing a free education from Ohio University. They could have also refused to play Mike Mitchell and refused him the opportunity to make Millions of dollars by playing football for the Oakland Raiders. Or they could play him when the courts said they could play him and not play him when the courts said he couldn't play. People forget to ask, What was best for Mike Mitchell?
  6. So you are saying to refuse a kid an education? Boy that would go over real well... I can't imagine the accusations that would come if Highlands refused enrollment to Mike Mitchell. I am not racist but can you imagine what would happen if a traditionally white community refused to allow a black student in the school that lived in the school district? Refusing enrollment to a student is ridiculous. Especially a public school. Why don't people look out for what is best for the kid? As far as political distribution... Please tell me how well Ft. Thomas is represented. I agree that Ft. Thomas may have good political backing. You asked for a community that has more political representation that Ft. Thomas... Well find out about these communities and tell us. Your arguement is pointless unless you present facts. Even at that, that was the past, Mitchell is eligible and Highlands deserves their wins back.
  7. The only situation Highlands put themselves in is listening to what the court said they could do. Highlands did not do anything wrong so it doesnt matter what your feelings are. You can go on and on about false accusations of Mike Mitchell or Highlands, but there is no debate to whether Mitchell was eligible to play.
  8. I know the KHSAA doesn't care about what the court has to say. They think they are the court.
  9. If I had the answer I would tell you but I honestly don't know. Although, it doesn't matter at this time because that part of the case is over.
  10. 1-4 are great questions. Unfourtunatly I do not have information on that. The only information is that Mitchell was deemed eligible in the end.
  11. I agree. I dont like the fact that you are not pro-Highlands on this topic. I obviously wouldn't be debating with you on this subject if we agreed. I just want to know why you think a team should have 12 wins, pay $1500, and suspend the coach for 2 games for not doing anything. I just dont understand why there are consequences for not doing anything. Our side arguement is dumb. You laugh at people for posting on this subject but right now you are one of the main posters. We both know that from earlier posts and that discussion doesn't need to be continued because it is off topic
  12. You do not make any sense. You don't have any sympathy for a team that had 12 wins taken away for no reason? Then falsely accusing the Mitchells of not following the rules is absurd. They followed the rules, won the case and did not do anything wrong.
  13. Being a part of the 2004 state championship Highlands team, it does have an effect on me. TonyDanza said, "Funny how this young man has moved past this but the adults around this situation can't seem to do that." I just think it is funny how you make fun of others for not getting over this and you keep posting on this thread. If you are over it then I challenge you to stop posting. Danza went on to say, "I'm interested in this subject but it is a hot topic for high school sports in general." So you ended up making fun of yourself?
  14. I think you contradict your comment when you keep posting on this subject.
  15. What about when a school does eveything by the rules and they still get punished? What about the $1,500, the suspension of 2 games of the head coach, or 12 wins earned by the football team? Both happened when the player was legal. If you look at this case, the KHSAA is punishing Highlands for something that they didn't do.
  16. National All Time wins. I believe, but am not 100% sure, that this the national record does not include the 12 wins in 2004 that were won legally on the field. According to http://texashsfootball.com/board/index.php?showtopic=4549 , if you add up last years wins, this is how the all time record looks if the 12 wins were not added: 1. Valdosta, Ga-----(5-5)-------843--- + 7 = 850 2. Louisville Male, Ky-(9-5)---790--- + 10= 800 3. Massillon, Oh-------(6-5)----786--- + 10 = 796 4. Highlands, Ky--(14-1)-------772--- + 15 = 787 5. Mt Carmel, Pa---(13-1)-----774--- + 7 = 781 This is what it looks like if the 12 legally deserved wins are added: 1. Valdosta, Ga-----(5-5)-------843--- + 7 = 850 2. Louisville Male, Ky-(9-5)---790--- + 10= 800 3. Highlands, Ky--(14-1)-------784--- + 15 = 799 4. Massillon, Oh-------(6-5)----786--- + 10 = 796 5. Mt Carmel, Pa---(13-1)-----774--- + 7 =781 If Mitchell would have lost the case or something would have happened where he was not eligible then I would understand not letting Highlands get back their legally deserved wins. Highlands did win the games by the rules. The other reason was that Mike Mitchell was deemed eligible! It's a matter of principal; The KHSAA should not think it has more power than it actually does. The KHSAA should not be able to tell a team what their record was even though they legally won the games. People are looking at reasons to blame Highlands and Mike Mitchell. Why not look at the KHSAA and determine that they are/were at fault.
  17. So the system should not "allow" transfers at all? There has to be some type of rule on transfers
  18. I did not say that you did. I specifically said that people on this thread have. I believe your opinion is wrong that he or Highlands acted "unsportsmanlike."
  19. People on this thead alone have falsely accused Mike and Highlands of doing anything wrong. I believe he is right, and so do the courts. I encourage you to go to cincinnati.com and look at the stuff people say over there.
  20. Of course people are making many false accusations when stuff like this happens. The problem is that Highlands is currently being punished for something that they didn't do.
  21. I like that "Greener Pastures" ... Thats fine if you don't think anyone can transfer ever, even if it is what is best for the kid and what his parents thought was best for him. Especially someone who is now making more money than, probably, anyone that posts on here because of going to the greener pasture. Thats your opinion and thats fine if you believe that.
  22. I made my point of knowing that people can do unsportsmanlike things while staying within the rules. In this case Mike or Highlands did nothing to be unsportsmanlike. I can reword that to make more sense, It is unsportsmanlike to accuse someone of doing something wrong if they in fact have not done anything wrong. Niether Highlands or Mike Mitchell have done anything unsportsmanlike. If you think they did then specifically state what was unsportsmanlike please:D
  23. I agree the KHSAA is not above the judicial system. I understand that when people do play by the rules happenings can be unethical. An example of that is when the winning teams calls timeouts at the end of the game when the score is not in doubt to rub it in. However, the case with Mike Mitchell was ethical. He wanted to come to Highlands and his parents moved to Fort Thomas with a bona fide address. He was not recruited in any way and I can assure you that. People want to come to Highlands for various reasons. He was ruled eligible by the courts and was not able to play in 2 games of football and was not able to run track for a whole season because the KHSAA had a made a false ruling against Mike. There was nothing that he did wrong, and if there was anything that he or Highlands did wrong it would have been brought up in the court of law. The only unethical thing is that people make false judgements about schools or people. Calling something unsportsmanlike because he or the school has done nothing wrong is a false judgement.
