Raceland's Austin Blankenship (9th grade) and Joey Miller (10th grade) are strong players. Miller is a wall behind the plate and Blankenship has a good bat.
Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't LCA a powerhouse and Raceland football young? see the analogy ? Support is support, fair is fair. I am calling out all the "ram fans" that pack the stadium on fridays in the fall to show the same support for the baseball team. a ram is a ram is a ram they all wear orange and black.
Tisk Tisk Ram "fans" Its funny how during football season when Raceland was getting ready to play LCA (which lets face it, the Rmas had a snowballs chance in winning) the "fans" where citing older wins and upsets as motivation, yet during baseball these same "fans" don't give em a fighting chance, even if in your herat of hearts you know Raceland will not win why not throw some BS in support of a young Rams team dedicated to becoming a strong force in the next few seasons.
Raceland is a young team with a few key players injured, but if Raceland can play fundamentally sound ball they may have a legitimate shot at leaving Greenup with an early season victory.
I agree. Like any baseball game pitching will dictate the season, and it seems as this may be weak spot for the Rams. Their poor catcher earned his playing time, digging and bloacking those that found the dirt...
East Carter 10 - Raceland 4 on Friday night.... The Rams hung tough with the Raiders. Raceland may surprise a few this season. They have a bunch of good young talent. Blankenship pitched well, Miller caught a good game solid D behind the plate, Huffman and Jones provided some solid at bats.

I would love to see some money put into the facilities at Raceland for the baseball team, I think this where the A.D. @ RWHS drops the ball. Coach Hoof is a great guy and coach but his heart lies with football. Take other area schools like a Greenup, a Boyd county, and an Ashland these schools all have nice fields and concentrate on baseball year round with fall teams and winter conditioning programs. It would be nice to see RWHS field a fall team -- scratch that I am sure a number of those boys play football.
