  1. They didn't renew Nichols contract for this guy???? What has he done that is so great? Let's see, coached the school with the most talent and still not pushed very deep in the playoffs in what might be considered weaker, by comparison, to other 6A playoff matchups. Hasn't BSHS produced more NFL talent than any other school? If this hire is true, I just don't see how this is a better hire than the fire. I thought they would have someone in mind when the pulled the trigger on Nichols...that doesn't appear to be the case. No slight to the Lucas guy, but has MHS lost some luster by way of the fire that they didn't see coming. Seems to me this job should have pulled some big talent and that just doesnt seem so true now
  2. If you look at the list, that seems to be par for the course. If you have 2 "quality" kids and some average ones to go with them then clearly (based on the number of kids from single teams on the list) you can make a deep run, or win double didgit games. If you have 2 all-state kids, that means they are game changer type kids...take the game over type kids, and that should equal some "quality" wins, or so it seems by the all-state list. Just my observation.
  3. The obligation of a parent is to support their child and their team. It seems part of the problem roots in the attitudes of some parents. If you constantly talk badly about a coach, it puts the kid in a bind. Should I listen to mom and dad or the coach? This leads to disention. When parents overstep their bounds it sends the wrong message to their kids. Bobby Bowden once said, "if I won every game I had ever coached, I would have developed absolutley no character. Those who have no character wilt when things get tough." What kind of character are we teaching our kids, when it gets tough complain until there is change? Not with my kids and not in my book. Just my thoughts.
  4. As boy Reggie dreamed of becoming a Harlem Globetrotter...thought he'd give it a shot on the gridiron.
  5. From what I hear from coaches, Julian Tackett made it clear at the coaches clinic that 6 classes is here to stay.
  6. Boyle would have had a good run, but Highlands would have been a tough one to beat and PT wouldn't have made it out of the Region.
  7. What about Scroggins or the Ballard's coach?
  8. Jeff is a bigtime basketball school (or so they think), would be really shocked to see this. Way too many issues accross the river...IMO.
  9. Wonder who they might go after? A couple good coaches in louisville?
  10. No, PT survived, that's how they got there. If Henry doesn't lose their QB it's a no brainer. PT would have been way too small and HC is way too balanced. Would have loved to see that game!!!
  11. Hinsight is always 20/20 had they missed everyone would have been ready to lynch Haskins. He's done a great job, and no use 2nd guessing now. One of the best games I can remember in the finals. Right up there with T and Male in my book.
  12. Awesome? I was at the game...if that is awesome, then the word has a completely different meaning then it used to. Awesome was what Highlands looked like, not PT. Congrats to them, but not awesome IMO.
  13. Dear Lord, could you imagine if Highlands played in 3A like they were supposed to? They would have scored 80 today!
  14. In over 20 years of watching state finals, this one was the overall worst I can remember. If I were Desales I would play up!
  15. Yes, because YOUR team is playing. If YOUR team is not playing you will be less apt to pass up poor ole' grandma to go watch a game you have no stake in.
  16. Yes, those people are off work to visit family...I feel certain it would kill attendance for those not playing in the finals. Many might choose not to show up due to THANKSGIVING at Grandma's house! Leave it the way it is
  17. You are right Tony, they were a power throughout the 80's. I think they had 3 Mr. Footballs in that decade too? I could be wrong.
  18. After seeing what MANY teams Central played were able to do to their defense, this one is no shocker. I had said Central wouldn't make it, and the east will win the title.
  19. Somerset can match up speed for speed. We shall see.
  20. Henry struggled in the 2nd quarter, their back up QB is a sophomore and his cage was a little rattled-not able to throw the ball with much effectivness until the 4th. Once he settled down, HC was able to move the ball up and down the feild. Central's D is nowhere near what it was a year ago (without Patterson they are average at best). Robinson never got behind the HC defense, balls were under thrown and he was able to make a play. He can run, but HC's #2 was with him stride for stride when they did go with a spy coverage on him. Best of luck to Central.
  21. Without Magness, Henry had to be really one-dimensional. Magness brings tremendous talent to the table as a QB with his arm and his legs. With him they can stretch you all over the place. Central is a good ball club, but the run will end IMO this year.
