For a young team like Rose Hill, any win is a good win at this point. Wolfe County is decent this year, but it was a convincing win by Rose Hill.

I can only quess part of the past 25 yr results for the 16th Region, so here is what I know: 16th Region Champions: 1983 - Greenup County 1984 - Boyd County 1985 - Greenup County 1990 - Boyd County 1994 - Boyd County 1995 - Boyd County 1996 - Ashland 1999 - Boyd County 2000 - Boyd County 2001 - Ashland 2002 - Ashland 2003 - Rose Hill 2004 - Morgan Co 2005 - Rowan Co 2006 - Russell 2007 - Elliott Co 2008 - Elliott Co So, I would guess Boyd County or Ashland has been the top program in 16th Region for the past 25 yrs. Ashland is definetly the powerhouse of all time in the 16th Region.

Greenup will be alright as the season goes on. I dont believe they are as strong as expected early, but will be OK. East Carter will build off of this Win and will grow from it and step it up a bit in the next few weeks. I believe East Carter will be one of the better teams in the 16th by the end of the Season.

This is a pretty good win for Rose Hill. It will be interesting to see how Rose Hill measures up in the 16th Region.

Boyd County - Joey Wells and Jimmy Spencer

So, you saying you have to pay to be on the TEAM. That opens another can of worms. Everyone can make all the excuses they want, but some people have commen sense and have eyes of their own to see what is really going on. This forum is running away quick, and I am not gonna be part of it. Good luck to Boyd the rest of the season and in the future, because I believe the big picture is everyone wants ALL the kids to prosper and wants Boyd County to prosper.

Unfortunately it is a coach's job to make these things happen. It is a coach's job to make the individuals into a team.

That is too funny. I cant believe you would even post that. Did you ever think that the players might have been there? But on another note, why would a player wanna be there if the Staff doesnt want them there. How would you feel as a young boy sitting in the stands being ignored by the coaches because they are embarrassed to even look at you sitting there. Yeah, some of the kids that were not there was the ones that were there all Summer working out with the coaches while some of the other players just stroll in and take over. Seems after observation that the private clinics, summer basketball and working with the Staff in the offseason obviously isnt worth the effort.

I was not there, and I can accept that. My only questions would be: What lead to the player having the attitude? Kids will be kids, but sometimes have reasons too. I was not there or do not claim to know the whole situation. The only thing I do know is there are some decent Junior and Sophomores that can play guard, so why sub a Freshman? As a matter of fact there were a few upperclassmen that wasnt even allowed to attend this tournament that could play some ball as well.

Does this Poll really mean anything. Lets be honest, these young men at Elliott have worked hard and stayed in a system and been loyal to finish their High School Career at Elliott. These polls means nothing. These young men have a goal and that is to win a State Championship, anything else is coming up short. Is Elliott good enough to accomplish that? We will see in due time.

Good point. If East and Fairview played ten times, then I would say they could split 5 and 5. Both East and Fairview have solid teams this year.

Wondered why he was benched then? Is this the same kid that sacrificed all other sports to spend the Summer working with the Basketball Staff? Anyone know if all Boyd's players will be available for next game? Any viruses still floating around or any injuries?

No, unfortunately the BC Staff would love to see a Ramey home kid stroll in. That would make their job a whole lot easier and they would not have to improve the skills of the existing players. That has been our problem for years, we relied on having Ramey home kids. Now that we dont have any multi-talented Ramey home kid in the system, then we are relying on our feeder system and our own coaching, and now you seen where that has gotten us.

I believe a Coach's Support from the Fans is earned, the same way a Coach expects results out of a player.:thumb: I believe I have heard more grumbling this year, then any other year. I am no coach, nor claim to be, but do see a lot of guys on the bench that could contribute with a little confidence. A coaches job is to instill confidence in his players, not bring them down. Take for instance the big 6-8 kid. I do not know the whole situation, but he has scored double digits in the games he was allowed to play in. Hope Boyd Co gets it turned around quick.

I guess the big question is what they consider a "Young player"?

Maybe so. Does this mean they are getting the present 6th Graders ready to take their spots when they get to be Juniors/Seniors? That is the only way this process will work. Kinda like the system that Boyd Co Baseball has used.

The enrollment could be a issue, I agree. I did not know the enrollment has fallen that bad. Why do you think the enrollment dropped so bad? I did forget about Billie Blanton playing that young. Dont recall Justin playing up, but Boyd was kinda down when both these players played as well.

Let me understand everything. You saying the 8th Graders, Freshman and Sophomores that are playing Varsity have that?

You seem to have a past knowledge of Boyd County basketball. I wanna ask you a question. Can you give me a example or remember a time where Boyd had a 8th Grader or Freshman playing Varsity minutes? Not saying it is wrong, just cant ever remember it happening? What about dressing Juniors that only play JV and no varsity time? Seems Boyd has definetly changed.

As Dr Phil would say "Let me know how that works out for you." Plus, with the younger kids in there, he always has a excuse of inexperience. Dont dare try to teach the older kids any fundamentals and make them better. These same older kids probably had a youth coach just push them to the side when they were younger as well.
