Campbell County 64 Conner 55 (OT)
Handy Manny replied to afi100guy's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Campbell executed extremely well in this game. Their half court sets were run almost flawless. They forced Conner to play to their tempo and they controlled the whole game. Even when Conner made their runs in the third and fourth quarters, Campbell stuck with it and pulled it out. They attacked the basket extremely well and did a great job of getting other players and not depending on Jolly. A+ to the Camels and Coach Code. -
Jolly had a field day against the Cougars in the last meeting. Tonight it seems like a different Conner team travels to Campbell County. Any thoughts on tonight's matchup?

Final from Hebron

This game was a battle. Just when it looked like Boone was going to seal the deal, Conner reeled it back in with some huge 3's from Lang. Gabbard and Flesch went at it all night. It was a fun game to watch. The deal breaker in this one was the play of Trevan Brown. This kid gets it done.

So I am assuming that tonights game between Conner and Boone is the seeding game? -

I almost agree with what you are saying here. Conner has beat Ryle twice already this season. It is hard to beat a team a third time. I think unless Conner can knock off Boone tommorow night and get some help from Ryle, they have a rough road to regionals. -

I would definately disagree with you there. I would match Robinson up with him any day. Hodges does not have the strength to go inside against Pike, but his jump shot has been really effective. Not to mention the fact that Hodges has close to 100 blocks already this season. -
DSAS 16s switch to Shining Star
Handy Manny replied to SportsGuy41017's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
KY will have several teams that will be able to compete with them. There will be plenty of room for exposure for any other kids. It is not as if the DSAS team did not play with an all star cast last year. They were loaded last year, they won state and did well on the July Circuit. They will be loaded again this year, but just under a new name. It's really not that different. -

No offense to Trammel because I still feel a healthy Trammel deserves to be on there as well. -

Conner should be an early favorite as one of the top three in NKY next year and no players in the top 5. I think Hodges, Robinson, or Flesch could be on this list for next year. -

You are correct. Stewart did play with the Bulldogs. He did go to Nationals with the Firebirds, but as far as I know that is the only tournament he was with them. -

I realize that the team with the most points wins the game, but basketball is not always about who scores the most. There are so many other aspects of the game. That is why it is so difficult to create a list where all positions are grouped together. IMO, the best players are the kids who can do it all. They make the players around them better. Therefor their teams probably do well. Holmes, Newport for example. -

I am predicting St. Henry will struggle with Conner's size.

With the exception of the 3rd. quarter, this was a really close game. Conner has got to become more consistent. 9 points combined from their two starting seniors is not going to work against most teams. Sizemore for Newport came up huge in this game. He had some nice open looks at the three early on and he nailed them. If not for his shooting, this game may have favored Conner going into half time. Newport had a huge rally late in the third to put them up big. Conner battled back and had cut it to 6 points in the fourth, but a couple mistakes allowed Newport the opportunity to walk away. Newport continues to be tough and I think Conner is growing from their losses. Flesch and Robinson had nice games for Conner and will be tough coming down the stretch.
