  1. Actually Justin was cut his sophmore year....Corey was never cut. Seemed to be a great move for each of them to go live with their Dad (in Silver Grove)....Corey has done very well after high school....looking back them leaving CCHS ended up as a good move for both of them.....but let the record show they left CCHS on their own accord....can't blame the coaches on this one.
  2. Being a great player (athlete) does ensure success as a coach..... not only is Eddie a great guy and was an outstanding player but a large part of coaching is dealing, school admin. and policies, along with your players both on and off the field of player, as well as parents. Not sure Eddie is ready for all that....a few more years coaching at the HS level, in a coordinator role, is what I would think he needs to truly be ready to take over a program, especially one the caliber of NCC. With that said frontrunners would have to be Dan Wagner and Terry Brown. Both have a solid track record with the "X's & O's" of the game and more importantly both are experienced (position and coordinators) coaches and teachers that truly understand the "in's & out's" and all the "red tape" that goes along with running a program, dealing with parents and players. Typically not understood by those outside the educational institutions….it is not as simple as just coaching the game....there is a lot that goes on coach’s have to be able, willing, and ready to deal with….if they could just “coach”, then that is a different story.
  3. Wow wouldn't say Roger Bacon doesn't have talent....2 D-1 signees already on their roster at skilled positions. CCHS has none at this point and not to down play any players ability CCHS won't have any at the end of the year either. Cov.Cath. is a strong program and is years team is much better than their current record indicates. Look for this to be a high scoring game and one where turnovers will play a major role. Key to a CAMELS victory won't be their passing game but the ability to run the ball and keep the Colonels "D" guessing. Colonels QB also is a major weapon (running and passing) who will play a big part in the outcome of this game.
  4. So many we are forgetting.....here are some I can remember from NKY area. Not sure on the spelling of some of the names--- NCC Jeff Brady - UK and then NFL Frank Jacobs - Notre Dame Mike Kiernen - Notre Dame Zack Kiernen - U of L Campbell County Bryan Shepard - UC John Turner - UK and then NFL Boone County John Alford - WKU Cov.Cath Paul Haldon - cant remember but thought it was in the Ivy League
  5. While where some players will be going is know more so than others, anyone have a list of where our NKY baseball players, playing at the next level, will be playing at? Also, why such a big "miss" by local colleges on NKY players? Lot of talent seems to go unnoticed each year. Such a disservice to the kids. While we all know NKU looks at the GLVC first and TMC, and the MOUNT is so pricey to attend, still very surprising not more of the local guys attend local schools to play. While I know most NKY schools don't have D-1 level athlete’s year-in-year-out, I would argue there are plenty of players that do have the skill ability and desire, to play at the D-II and DIII levels......any thoughts/opinions.
  6. Fox who pitched the 1st round game vs Brossart would figure to get the start but he is now out with a wrist/arm injury. Not sure who Camels have left.... What is going on in the other side?
  7. Nicely played game (considering the conditions).....both teams are extremely solid....too bad they had to meet in the quarters instead later in the tournament. Hope they have a chance to get the rest of it in.
  8. Cov.Cath @ Campbell Co. tonight 5:00
  9. Camels beat Brossart 2-0....nice pitchers dual. Fardo pitched very well for the Mustangs and Fox did the same for the Camels.
  10. I would think they have one or two....why would show a team who may be playing in upcoming JV tournament your best???? Don't get me wrong, having to play the winner of Brossart-vs-Beechwood will be a tough game. But they have played both of those teams before and not having playing Cov.Cath. at all before yesterday, again why show your hand?
  11. They beat Boone Co., split with NCC....beat Brossart twice...did not play Ryle and just lost to CC yesterday....with the tourney just next week and a possible 2nd round match with CC, if they get bye the winner of Brossart-vs-Beechwood, doubt they wanted to show CC anything. Should be an interesting upper part of the bracket with a lot of solid teams.
  12. My thoughts.... Upper Bracket - NCC, Cov.Cath or Campbell Co. as the favorites. Lower Bracket - Dixie, Boone or Ryle as the favorites. With student athletes at this age you never know what "team" is going to show up. Sleepers: Holy Cross has a good hitting team and Brossart is much improved from the start of the season and Scott with a couple of big bats and decent pitching could make a run. Outside Factors: All depends on the what the Varsity team is doing (if they pull JV guys up during the JV tourney to pitch run or because of injuries...it will happen) and also if some of the JV teams bring guys back down, who have mostly played Varsity, just to play in the JV tourney (hope that does not happen as the guys you have been the JV guys should be the ones playing in it). Let's just hope the rain stays away so they can actually get a good week of weather to play this thing.... Overall Picks to win it (I've got 3) I think the Upper Bracket is the stronger bracket: NCC - strong team all the way around, good "D", not really a power hitting team but will swing the bats from top to bottom of the line-up. Cov.Cath - always fundmentally sound, will do what it takes (small ball, hit-n-run, etc) to win. Coach Michels will have them ready. Campbell Co. - I believe they are 13-0 thus far...solid pitching, good sticks...if they play good "D" they are hard to beat. Just like my NCAA brackets I doubt I got it right :jump:
  13. Isn't winning just about winning??? Not sure how solid they are but to be undefeated ( 8- 0 ) with wins over Scott, Dixie, Holy Cross, who all are usually solid teams....seems like Camels must be ok. NCC is very strong especially if the younger Kelly brother is playing down. Cov.Cath I am sure is solid again, Coach Michaels does a great job.
  14. JV Baseball ---- anyone know how the local NKY JV teams are doing? Who has been playing well...who looks to be solid....top 3 JV teams this year, thus far? Know it has to be hard with all the rainouts.
