it wasn't much contact. IMO that foul isn't always called... and in a game that had gotten very physical wasn't being called on either end to that point. To end a game on a questionable foul call in a game that hadn't been called that way was IMO poor officiating.

On Jan 7, 2016 Simon Kenton had a LIT rating of 99.5 while Trimble had a LIT rating of 83.6. I cant find the final LIT ratings but that gives you an idea of what the computer thought at that time. Also, in the final usa today computer rankings Simon Kenton was ranked 17th in the state while Trimble County was ranked 53rd. And this was after the state tournament. So while it may be your opinion that Trimble was just as good as Simon, the numbers don't back that up.

Fair enough, but IMO Trimble was far less talented.

Just to play devils advocate, Last year SK was beaten by a team that it had previously beaten by more then 20 points in the state tournament and the year before they lost to a far less talented Trimble County team in the 8th region final. To be clear, I think Stowers knows the game of basketball and does a fine job. But I would say that both of their previous post season exits have been at the hands of teams not nearly as talented as them.

SK has always been loaded with talent. I wouldn't say they have outperformed their talent (and that's not meant to be a slap at Stowers).

GRC had to drop regardless of missing Igo or not...you can't get smoked by 30 and then squeak out a win vs a very average team and not expect to drop when you are as high as GRC started. Long season, but not a good start for GRC...Igo or no Igo.

Is this debate really still going on? Beechwood is awful. They are gonna have a lot of scores like this. Nobody did anything wrong.

Could also include Sacred Heart, but when you're already #2.... haha

Stock up: Ryle, Eastern

Ryle is loaded. Two BCS level players and 3-4 other college basketball players. This should not be a shock.

Simon Kenton will be an interesting team to follow all year long. Losing Niece/Harney obviously will hurt but Harmeyer is a capable #1 option on a good team. I think she will show people that she's more then just a really good shooter. And SK has some young talent that will get an opportunity to show their stuff (Jones/stamper/vickers). But they will have to prove they can play, and beat, top competition. Really interesting team to follow IMO.

Christian County may prove they belong in the rankings at some point this year, but they got blown out by the ranked teams on their schedule last year and will have to prove they can play with those teams before they get consideration for a top 20 spot.

There was 3 tier's of teams last year in the 8th. Simon was on tier 1. Anderson was on tier 2. Grant was with a group of teams in tier 3. I think this year if Niece doesn't return you have 7 teams that could potentially make a claim that they are the top team. Should make for an interesting race.

I would still list Simon as the favorite even without Niece, but the gap between them and the pack would not be nearly as large.

This region is a total crapshoot if Niece doesn't play. Probably 7 teams that could potentially win the region.
