  1. Guess your a Cov Cath fan...:idunno: Would like a response for a ref please...
  2. In the Cov Cath Dixie game, a ref thru a flag because he ran into a camera man on Dixie's sideline. Dixie scored on the play - live ball TD. The ref called the play back because the Dixie sideline had already had an issue earlier in the game. Found out the ref was suspended - should have assessed the penalty on the PAT and the TD should have counted which would have resulted in a win for Dixie. The call effected the outcome of the game and determined where and who Dixie and Cov Cath played in the playoffs. Instead of the home game that Cov Cath now gets to look forward to, Dixie has a 3 hour ride to Ashland. DIXIE SHOULD HAVE HAD THE HOME GAME AND THE EASIER OPPONENT! Why is their no ability to replay a quarter in football, or do an over time like replay, like you can replay an inning for baseball if the ref makes a call that effects the game outcome?
  3. My son plays for Dixie and played his tail off during the game. After the game, his first comment was "Why do the refs hate us?" He wasn't being nasty about it or beligerant - just looked like he was numb. Pretty sad that a kid felt that way immediately after a well fought, great game - that the officials had that much game changing impact.... The "right" thing for the ref to do after the penalty where he ran into the camera man would have been to pick up the flag and waive off the penalty. If the ref was that upset about what happened then throw the camera man off the field - it was an unintentional accident.
  4. In the area where I live, boys go to Cov Cath, St. Henry, Beechwood, Villa, Covington Latin, Holy Cross, Highlands and Dixie. I don't think Kenton Co's open enrollment policy matters much...:idunno:
  5. Scott had all the facilities for years and years when Dixie and SK had very little. When the Dixie parents were pushing for a new facility back in early 2000's, I think Scott had a pool, soccer field, baseball field, softball field, track and gym on site. Dixie had a gym, a football field with more dirt than grass, and a softball field. Dixie's track team was bused to Scott to practice, Baseball was at Turkeyfoot and poor soccer had to use the dirt field that football used also. Simon Kenton was alittle better than Dixie at the time because they had more land, but the track is too small for meets and they're facilities around the football field are probably a fire hazard at this point. Scott can wait alittle longer since it was unequal every since Scott was built. Projects may be paid for by taxes on alchohol and tobacco, but I'm not sure...
  6. COLONELS WEAR BLUE - Guess I was comparing the last 5 games CCH played versus Dixie. CCH played Campbell CO, Beechwood, NCC, Scott, then Highlands....Dixie played Holmes, Highlands, Scott, Ryle, Conner - just seemed like Dixie will be more prepared. PLUS, Dixie played Simon Kenton, one of the best teams in KY and hung in there. btw - in Dixieland, on Dixie Hwy, REAL Colonels wear RED!!!
  7. There is a Benefit for Andy this Saturday October 17th from 7pm to 10 pm at Muggbees on US 42 in Florence. The price is $20 dollars at the door this will include an all you can eat buffet style dinner and drinks (alcohol included). YOU MUST BE 21 OR OLDER TO ATTEND due to the alcohol. They will also be doing a split-the-pot and if anyone is interested in donating items for a silent auction that would be great. Memorials are suggested to the Andy Rudd Sportsmanship Award c/o Heritage Bank, 1818 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005. Please contact Trisha Sutthoff if you plan on attending for a head count so they can plan the food. tsutthoff@cooperhighfootball.com In addition, if you wish to help the family and cannot attend the benefit, you can go to any Fifth Third Bank and ask to contribute to the Benefit for Andy Rudd. It may take a few days to enter the Master Memorial Fund List so if they cannot find it at the branch, use Acct# 9480846097 and it is under For the Benefit of Andy Rudd.
  8. Please be there for the Dixie players and coaches. They loved working with Andy. He was a coach to the younger JV players and a friend to the older Varsity players and a teammate to the coaches. His half brother is also a Senior Dixie football player so the team lost a coach, a friend, a brother and a teammate. This is a difficult time for the team but the coaches met with the players first thing Monday at school, there were extra counselers at school, and a Reverand met with the team Monday as they grieved together. They are united as a team as they pay their respects this week to Andy's family. They will remain united as they turn their focus back to football.
  9. The rain poured the second half and was a factor the second half. The ball became soaked and heavy. Made offense for both sides very difficult.
  10. I think Raleigh and Stansberry will be back at some point before the season is over...
  11. :confused:Does the Holmes team like mud?? Dixie has already played in one mud bowl at Scott already. If Dixie can hit Holmes hard off the bat, and keep hitting them hard, Dixie will win. If they let Holmes scramble all night, it will be tough to contain them....Hope the Dixie boys don't think this is a cake walk because Holmes has been playing lesser teams while Dixie has lost to some good 6A teams and Highlands. Dixie is ready to take their frustration out on somebody. If everyone at Dixie DOES THEIR JOBS, Dixie by 21....:ylsuper:
  12. :madman:Apparently there was alot going on underneath the piles during the tackles the fans couldn't see. Would have needed a camera underneath the pile to really know who started what. Normally you only see the second retailiation blow.
  13. Maybe looking at Freshman games isn't a valid benchmark, but it has to be in the back of the player's minds.
  14. Dixie gave up after Highlands scored 3 TD's in 4 minutes before the half, mainly due to fumbles and mistakes. For all the first qtr and part of the second, it was a very good football game. Hopefully, the two teams will have the opportunity to play again in the playoffs. Given a positive frame of mind, there's no reason Dixie can't play head to head with Highlands. When this year's class of Senior's were Freshman, both teams were undefeated and Highlands won in a close game that could have gone either way. This year's class of Sophomore's, Dixie beat Highlands when they were Freshman. Although, Dixie needs to practice their tackling if they want to have ANY chance!!!!!
  15. Believe it or not, people care when a player gets hurt, especially one as talented as Bardo and NO ONE likes to see that happen, not even their opponents would wish that on another player - bad KARMA! People want to know he's OK as fans! When Michael Robinson, a Cov Cath player, got seriously hurt in the summer, people just wanted to make sure he was ok - kids on other teams played baseball and basketball with him, know the family and really cared what happened to him and wanted to wish him well. Non-Highlands fans can respect the Highland's program, know that the Birds winning over X is a great accomplishment for Northern KY football, but when there's thread after thread simultaneously running about YEA HIGHLANDS, WE ARE NO 1!!!!!! it gets old...:irked:
  16. If Bardo is out, that has to mess up the team's timing. Bardo looked like the star of the team Friday night. The replacement QB looked lost when he came in -could potentially cause fumbles/ missteps.....Does anyone know Bardo's prognosis?
  17. Per a Beechwood parent, Beechwood had to cancel the JV Cov Cath game because of too many injuries from the night before. Beechwood just don't have the number of boys Cov Cath has available for a JV game obviously!
  18. Simon Kenton still has the old away stands with old press box and original concession stand and bathrooms. Dixie gutted everything 4 years ago so everything is new. It's also heavily used for track meets as well in the spring, hosting the A and AA regional track meets and blows away every other facility I've seen for functionality for the fans. I liked it better than U of L's track facility.
  19. The issue is the JV parents put too much stock in how well the JV teams do and believe it will automatically be the same result at the Varsity level the next year. They become offended when people point out "it's just JV" but it's the honest truth - the powers that be are only going to look at the Varsity record when comparing programs, recruiting for scholarships, records, etc. Different programs may only play specific underclassmen at Varsity, so comparing a JV Dixie team playing kids that play Varsity AND JV to another program who may not play their underclassman talent on both squads is like comparing apples to oranges. Varsity is what counts when looking at the big picture. JV is a great opportunity to give kids reps and more experience but it's no prediction of a program's future success.
  20. Since it is Homecoming, At Dixie, should be a huge crowd....Dixie may wake up, and surprise Ryle at home....
  21. Every year there are rumors it's his last year, and every year it isn't. If it is, I'm sure he wouldn't want to get the heads of this years team, so this is pretty counterproductive to the Dixie team. Better to discuss after the season is over.
