  1. I saw the news segment and West said something like they want payback for losing to SK in the playoffs. On SK side, you have the game at your place and you went to the state title game last year and the news station goes to Conner for game day! Just a little extra motivation. It was mentioned earlier that Conner didn't run but three times.... if you don't have receivers that can get open they may want to try to mix it up a little. Really, only three runs??
  2. Well, they will play Beechwood. I saw Boone play and feel Cooper would be just fine there. I think you could throw Cooper, Ryle, Highlands and Cov Cath from the Freshman group and all the games would be close, but I would like Cooper's chances. Too bad we will never know. Scott County has agreed to play Cooper Thursday so maybe they will "get a taste of their own medicine" in this game. I know nothing about Scott County's team so we will see.:thumb:
  3. Well, if you have money laying around, our school could use a simple batting cage, either inside or outside. We would like to have a whole building or a restroom close to the field, but a simple cage will do for now. On a serious note, how does the Schott foundation distribute money? Is it just Catholic schools or do they give monies to public schools as well?
  4. This subject has been beat to death. No hiding on the part of these kids. Please feel free to contact those in charge to vent your frustration, you are not alone.
  5. The bold is a little confusing but from a very good source the Freshman coach wanted to move up as he knew what he had and the varsity coach said to just leave them where they are. WHY??? We don't know. I know he wants to get that "winning" atmosphere but you only get better by playing better teams. The sad part is the kids want to prove they can play with the big boy schools and believe it or not they don't enjoy beating teams like they have been. The starters see less than a half a game which doesn't help their development. The good news is I heard last night that Scott County is coming up next week and while I don't know much about their freshman team, atleast they are a school with much success and are established.
  6. Wow, I must be a year off or have really lost my mind.
  7. I heard earlier that it is up to the coaches to decide before the game between 10 or 8 min quarters. There was a soccer game following the football game so they went with 8.
  8. I think they win those handily but it will be tough to beat HHS or Cov Cath in the playoffs again. Great job winning the first round with those though.
  9. A very good coach. The '83 team at Conner was very good. I think they lost the first two games of the year to Boone and Cov Cath and then ran the table, if my memory serves me right. Back then they played Boone twice a year.
  10. Read my recap on that thread and tell me what Cooper should have done? Newport poster was mad when Cooper took a knee instead of kicking extra points. :idunno:
  11. I didn't keep track of every TD but I know there were atleast 2 punt returns for TD's, 3-4 interception returns for TD's, 1-2 fumble returns, maybe a KO return or it may have been one of the punts, and a safety. Most of this was in the first half. They played 8 min quarters and it was 59-0 at half. They had a running clock the 2nd half. Cooper didn't throw the ball more than 2-3 times that I can remember and that was the first half. In the fourth our 3rd string QB handed off to a kid I haven't even heard of so he must have been like the 6th or 7th string back and he went outside and outran the defense for a 60 yard score. If I would have seen a score like this without seeing the game I would think they ran it up but their offense probably only scored 3 or 4 times. They did take a knee of some of the extra points and they quit fielding punts mid way thru the 2nd quarter. Also, two starters were out, one due to injury and the other was our starting RB Taylor Centers who is now playing varsity. My son was more excited that the coaches told the players that Scott County has agreed to come up and play us next week when we had a open date due to Lloyd's cancellation.
  12. Unfortunately only the Varsity coach and or AD get to vote on that. I would venture to say they will be in the large school division from here on out but they just happened to miss possibly the best freshman class they will have in a long time.
  13. Cooper has asked the Ryle coach for a game but we heard the Ryle coach said his schedule was full. I did not see a bye week on Ryle's schedule so it would have to be at the end of the season.
  14. My bad. I heard Cov Cath was up 21-0 on Ryle early and then missed the extra point late to tie. The big school playoffs will be something to see. I don't know how the match-ups work out but I think it would be tough for Ryle to beat Cov Cath and Highlands for a second time. All three schools seem to be very even and credit goes to Ryle for winning the first round meetings.
  15. They can pass but they can't catch very consistently. I'm not sure where, or if, they will be able to run on Ryle but if you haven't seen Bradley, wait until he gets out in the open a little and see how hard it is to bring him down. He is a very hard runner but is having to make his first move in the backfield way too much.
  16. Are you serious? They beat themselves by 27 points?? Maybe they are just not as good as you think.
  17. Beechwood is not playing up and Cooper is playing down due to the decision of the varsity coach, which he now regrets, from what I hear. Cooper has an opening next week since Lloyd dropped their freshman season. I heard the coaches talked to Ryle and others but their schedules are full. There was talk of playing Scott County but I guess it is not working out either.
  18. He does live in the Cooper district but has always been a Catholic student as has been mentioned. Booby B would always help any team but Cooper will be fine.:thumb:
  19. Cooper at Newport Thursday at 6 O'clock.
  20. :idunno: Cooper had three 8th graders playing varsity due to different circumstances of course. It will be hard to judge the Freshman class until they are all facing each other but Cooper's Freshman class is as talented in all three major sports as any NKY school.
  21. They can't get hit any harder than they got hit last year when they were Soph's and Junior's. IMO, they will get beat handily but they won't be the pushover they were last year.
  22. I know it's fun for some fans but I think these national rankings are a joke. With all due respect for HHS, IMO there is no way they are top 25 in the country when you start to think of the schools in Florida, Ohio, Texas, California etc... and I don't believe Cincy St X would be top 10 either. There was a post earlier this year comparing the size of Texas schools versus KY schools and it was unreal.
  23. Bradley has broken more tackles than anyone I've seen in a long time. A lot of times he is hit in the backfield first and against weaker teams than he is about to face. If he gets in the open it is fun to watch. It will be interesting to see what kind of yardage he will get against the 6A schools. I don't think it will be close to the 200 plus a game he has been averaging when they know they only have to stop him. I wouldn't be surprised if he still gets 100 a game though.
  24. That is a tough call on pulling starters. Cooper's Freshman have been up 40 plus points the last two games midway thru the 2nd quarter and the coaches are wanting to give their starters time on the field for future games but feel like they may be running it up so he has pulled some key players before halftime and told the punt returner not to field the punt. I'm sure coach Warner will do the right thing to get his team prepared, which he should. Also, since Cooper doesn't run the spread this year the clock won't be stopped on every play due to an incomplete pass. Not to say they still won't lose big but maybe closer to respectability.
  25. I agree, if Lloyd, who is a 2A team in a down year can beat them, just think of what a favorite 6A team will do. I hope they keep it respectable and everyone on both sides stay injury free.
