  1. My son said most everyone was there for their practice last night. Looking forward to seeing the boys play tonight. :thumb:
  2. Congrats on a successful regular season. Good luck in the playoffs.
  3. SK will roll in this one. I predict 55-21 with Boone scoring their last on the reserves.
  4. I can't honestly say if there is a rule on if you miss practice. The injured players have been there but unable to participate. The ill players of course were not there and I'm glad they weren't. There is practice today so hopefully some will be back. If Beechwood is having to play 8th graders then I think Cooper will be fine regardless (although stranger things have happened). They could always let Centers play since he is a freshman and likes to play with his friends but I'm not sure they would do that if they expect him to play varsity this weekend. Centers was our #1 back and then our #2 back rolled his ankle on Monday. Our 3 and 4 backs are very good as well though. We lost our starting TE/DE maybe for the season and our OG and LB was out but may be able to play. As long as we have our QB, Morris, we have enough athletes around him to be fine.
  5. I've heard Beechwood has two big backs that play very well. This may be their chance for an upset as Cooper had at least 5, two way starters, out of practice last night due to either injury or illness. Cooper's depth will be tested. I'm just ready to watch them play after having last week off with weather cancellation.
  6. WOW, I apologize as I was just going by what the e-mail from the team mom sent out. I'm not shocked however as their have been several issues with Cooper's Athletic Director and communication, or lack their of.
  7. Just received an e-mail that Holmes has called and cancelled. No reason given. Next game will be at Beechwood on Thursday.:irked:
  8. Kenton County has "open enrollment" which means you can go to any school in your county. So, if you are a good football player, would you rather play on Dixie's field or Scott's? I hear that Scott is getting the new field soon so that may help keep kids.
  9. I don't think anyone said that they were "all getting moved up" bu that would be the only way they could lose this year. Doesn't matter, don't hijack the Ryle-Boone thread, great game by both teams.
  10. Who are you dissing here, Ryle or Cooper?:idunno:
  11. This game certainly surprised me. I saw Boone earlier this year and they didn't look near as good as they did today. Pulice had been reportedly running wild all year and I would be surprised if he had 10 yards. Boone's D was hitting them in the backfield all day. In the fourth Ryle put two blocking backs in the backfield with Pulice and they still couldn't run the ball. Does Boone not trust any kid to punt the ball? You are tied in the fourth and you have fourth down on your side of the field twice and you go for it. Diaw ran very well today. Did Ryle just have a bad day or were there some players out with the flu? Ryle certainly didn't look like the best freshman team in NKY today. If they have to play Cov Cath or HHS in the playoffs they will have to perform better than what I saw today.
  12. Since I'm not a fan of either team it was very nice to watch from home last night. SK completely dominated every aspect of this game. The line was the biggest difference. Lawrence proved a lot of the prediction posters wrong by leaving any doubt he is the better QB. Simpson is just a stud. They had the big lineman for SK with his helmet off and he already looks like a D1 lineman. Nice paint on the face. He is a very good player. I think SK has a chance to knock off one of the big boys from Louisville. It will be a big game with Conner and Ryle and I think Conner will win this after seeing Ryle's defense against a "quality" offense.
  13. Cooper vs Holmes canceled tonight and will be made up Monday night at Cooper, 6pm.
  14. Well, they used Centers as the #1 and he did quite well. AJ Collins, Jacob Smith and Ricky Brooks are the next three in line. They normally keep AJ at full back but I heard today that AJ has the flu so so he is not playing tonight. Probably the best back over all would be our QB, Tyler Morris. He is fast and elusive. I think Jacob and Ricky will get the job done but if they struggle they could move Jared Blank from WR to QB and put Morris in the backfield. Blank also plays some full back and they are deep at receiver so that is an option as well. Last night at practice there were up to 10 of the 32 kids ill so I hope they all don't have the flu.
  15. I agree, no amount of Freshman will help a varsity team in 6A. Centers has the body size (6'1 and 190 according to the program) to play but most of the others, while very good players, just don't have that type of size. They will be there soon enough. They just need to focus on going undefeated this year. :thumb:
  16. What is Conner's freshman record? I know they beat Dixie earlier but not sure if they've won many more.
  17. WOW, I've had people telling me this SK compares to the Simpson freshman team that either went undefeated or were in the finals. Now they've lost to Ryle, Cov Cath and HHS. I think they may be a little off on their thinking.
  18. I hate to agree with a non Cooper fan but I have to in this case. First, I'm not sure Cooper's QB is healthy after going out of the game last week. Then, Cooper has had trouble catching the ball on a consistent basis. I don't know why they don't throw more screen passes to #12, Hutchinson I think. I saw him run track and he is their KO returner and he is very fast. He has had several long returns this year. I have not seen Boone but I hear they don't tackle very well at all. If this is true Bradley will have a field day, line or no line, as he has been making first cuts in the backfield half the time anyway. He is very hard to bring down. I still think Boone pulls this one out but I doubt it will be by 50 like SK, Ryle and probably Conner will do. I sure hope I'm wrong though.
  19. I don't think anyone should use "flat" in a "big" game. If I use the term "flat" I would mean it to be their intensity level wasn't there for a particular game. It normally happens the week after a big game against a seemingly weaker team. Normally I may say they game out flat in the first half (no intensity)and then realized at halftime that wasn't going to work and they pull away in the second half. I don't think I ever have used it for a whole game or as an excuse for a loss, especially a big game loss.
  20. Yes, to this point. There is talk of others but nothing set in stone.
  21. I think Boone pulls it out this year as well. I believe with Bradley back next year that Cooper will break into the District win column a time or two.
  22. Scott County tried to throw in the final two minutes with no success but I really don't remember them throwing too much throughout the game. I've watched too much football to remember back to week one with NCC so I'm not sure if they did or not. I will say this, there has never been a time this year where I thought "we need to learn to stop the pass". NCC moved the ball in the first half and had one score on a long run. Then Cooper had three games where they didn't even give up positive yards by their first string defense. Then they played Scott County who moved the ball 3-4 yards at a time with their strong line and big back in the first half. The second half they held Scott County scoreless. Cooper just has a lot of good athletes across the board. The only way I think they are stopped this year is if they continue to move kids up to varsity and not let them play freshman.
