I was shocked by the outcome. I would have never dreamed with that group out there that they would have lost. We need Marcus to take care of that ankle and let it heal. How did Cody and Stephen do?

Bayshore, Do you think that it would be beneficial to HHS football in the future for our two middle school football teams to play this year? Other than just reviving an old, but great inter-county rivalry, I don't think the Patriots would benefit.

I watched this young man limp off the sidelines and into the locker room last Friday and return with his gear on. He so wanted to help his team as they were struggling. My heart went out to him then and especially now. Prayers for this young man.

New Harlan plays Knox Central twice this year and it is expected that they will compete with the New Harlan team as they did last year. The Pennington Gap team is up and down through the years but by the end of the year, in their down years, they always have gotten better and rose to be competive. And, last year's Pennington Gap had absolutely one of the best running backs in Virginia, and I think he was showing it last Friday night for Lee High as a freshman. He will be ranked in the state's best. New Harlan does play the county teams and Leslie County, but New Harlan plays Johnson Central as well. New Harlan plays Letcher Central who brought a game with them. New Harlan plays local and also they stray out there a bunch to play the bigger teams as well. You ought to come watch the New Harlan team play some of these big games Spaceghost, you will get your moneys worth. I've seen some big battles over the years, many wins and some losses.:ylsuper:

I only know of 4 in the past 5 years to transfer and play football on the New Harlan middle school team. I think playing 3 sports is very tough due to the length of the seasons now and the demands that coaches put on their players to participate in offseason. Especially at a smaller school, you need your "athletes" to participate. It's a tough thing to do play three sports and maintain a high level of academics, but it can be done.:thumb:

Form what I am hearing, we should have a decent following. Somebody better be getting directions or they'll be Black Bears wondering all over the country side!!! We need to caravan down there together. :walk: I think we are grilling Panther on Saturday.

Bell County always comes to play. I was just kinda surprised at the players that Hilton brought with him, especially after posts like this one: I take every game serious Trench, especially if it involves Bell Co.

My point was ky football, that in this particular thread, some suggested that Dudley wasn't "taking this game too serious". I think HDE and myself thought otherwise by the players he brought. I hope that "we" in Harlan Co. take every game serious, even JV games. I never meant to suggest otherwise if that is how you interpreted what I said.

I thought Bell took it VERY seriously. As I said, it was good to see some of the younger Bears get a chance to play and improve their game. We get to see the varsity play on Fridays. I like these Freshmen and JV games.

Jordan Calton starts varsity on defense. I can't think of the other one. I'd say that both Dylan and Jordan would love to get in on this.

It was good to see a good ol' home town boy, Freddy maggard, out watching the Black Bears of Harlan County!! Glad to see him doing well.
