The Shining Stars were impressive, played well together, and had depth. They are only going to get better.

It was either sit out his last AAU tourney or tough it out and play with the back pain, he chose to play. He tried physical therapy at Kort all last week and used meds to reduce the pain and it helped enough to take the court. Hopefully the folks at Kort can have him ready for this weekend. And make no mistake, the defenses were tough.

The 16 year-old has some work to do. Jenkins averaged just over 20 in three pool games. One player I was really was impressed with was Pittman. If he continues to develop he will make a strong case to the in-state schools down the road.

Hood is the frontrunner. Jenkins had a busted back with a pulled muscle from the tournament the prior week and hopes to be ready for Bob Gibbon's tourney in NC next week. They did give the Shining Stars a good game while jumping out to a 17 - 4 lead and led going into the 4th quarter. Not enough depth and rebounding to hold the lead. No excuses though, other teams played well and hats-off to the Shining Stars 17 and 16s as well.

Prom on Friday night. Arrived in akron at 7.30am at hotel. After an all night car drive and arrived sick. Indiana Elite One pool games were both early and played before noon. Was hoping to play the Sunday games if felt better, but Elite was knocked out of the event on Saturday. As you well know, they were without Byrd, Hulls, and Ryan.

The 17s will be won by DS Allstars as shooterx2 has pronounced. Again, it really is good to see this much chatter about Kentucky High School kids and the level of play. I think the future classes are only going to get stronger and stronger.

The one thing that makes it fun being a Kentucky high school fan is seeing so many kids in our state doing so well. The positive trend and the recognition our kids are getting is great for Kentucky hoops.

Yes. He was picked up for Indiana Elite One as a guest for the King James tournament. He is looking at joining them for tourneys in July also. The same thing as they are doing with Sutton and some other players. He also has a camp schedule to deal with too. Manual will also have its share of major events too. King of the Bluegrass, Louisville Invitational (LIT), 5th/3rd Bank Classic, Fast Lane Showcase, Hoopfest, and possibly another out-of-state tourney.

Just a minute ago on ESPN 8 (The Ocho) Bilas, Vitale, and Phelps all three picked the DS team to win it. It's over.

The intent is not to be kind, just trying to spare lives. This might be the one event where you could actually have the awards ceremony with the presentation of the champions trophy at the beginning rather than the end of the tourney.

Not since the days of Alcindor and Walton of UCLA have we seen a dynasty like this with the Derek Smith Allstars. And this unit tops them all. Even the Wizard of Westwood, John Wooden, would be outmatched by the superior basketball mind that looms on the DS Allstar sideline. Sanford and Middleton over the Faulkners? No way, Calipari's Memphis backcourt with Derrick Rose would struggle to contain the Faulkners. My advice, back the ball out, stall and milk the clock. This won't help you win, but it will save your dignity by not letting them hit the century mark on points and winning by 50. Good luck to ya.

No team comes close to DS. I agree. Phares will put them on the level of high major D1 team. If we keep talking about it, some team are liable to drop out from shear fear of having to play them. The dominated a Southern Cal #2 team that might have been the tournaments best shooting team. Am I right shooter? My guess is they are 1 to 1 even odds to win this event.

There's no doubt there is several good teams. You have to realize though that the DS Allstars are similar in dominance as to the early 90's UNLV team that featured Johnson, Augmon, Anderson, and Greg Anthony and won the NCAA by a 20 point margin per game. I do not understand why they even have to play the pool rounds, just give them the #1 seed and let the others play for 2.

I agree.. Derek Smith Allstars are loaded and will win the tournament. There's no team remotely close to having the talent they have. Its off the charts. With the athletes and offensive firepower they have and especially the coaching, I hope they institute the mercy rule with a running clock.

I have the right player. He wore #1 for the Derek Smith 16s.

Justice has a ways to go. He had 5 points and just 1 field goal against legit comp at the Adidas May Classic. I am not sure how old he is but was sporting a beard this past weekend and stood about 6-2 or 6-3. He has limited guard skills and he's too small to play forward at that level. His team got beat by 34 or 36 against Indiana Elite which shows you the gap between talent levels in SV's region and Indiana. I hope a school like Arkansas looks at him, but that's a long long way off.
