Ram, I think that this just shows how much pride we take in our community. The talent pool in our county along is amazing, truly, just think if we had one high school. We get the right coach and he has full support from all involved, because we have had good coaches, at GCHS and we will have 3 strong football programs in the county to be reckoned with in years to come.:thumb:

I will tell you exactly what every AD that I have spoken to that has done this, they have said that we can not NOT afford to do it... The estimate given to us was $400,000. Tates Creek did the field 5 years ago for 1.7 million and have doubled thier investment according to the AD there through saved maintenance costs and rentals on the field.

I have been honored to officiate that traditional rivalry and have always been treated with the utmost respect, this is sad to see such a historic rivalry no longer be played but I wish both schools nothing but the best. Both are class acts in the admin and coaching area as far as treating officials goes, that is for sure.

Put the word out at Mason County last night and garnered some interest. I have also spread the word all over Lexington and Northern Kentucky and had some very positive feedback in those areas. Any one have some good contacts in the southeast and western part of the state of Kentucky? It is also being spread all up and down the river on the Ohio side and I also have the KHSAA spreading the word for us too to quality coaches both head and assistants from top programs in the state. You would be surprised how many folks still don't know we are actively searching for a good pool of applicants...

Do they play Saturday night?

Doc, I wouldn't expect anything less from you, I know you care about our community as a whole, just as most of us do, what is good for Raceland, is good for GCHS and what is good for Russell is good for Raceland, it all reciprocates for a prosperous community.

GCHS is going to go after who they want but they want those folks to know they are serious about going after them, that is why they are doing everything they possibly can do to make sure the coaches that are out there that can make a difference know they are for real about hiring them for the success of this program. It is always better to have a lot of quality applicants in your pool than just one or two, makes it more competitive and the cream always rises to the top. Believe me, We are going after quality coaches and we are getting the word out all over the state and beyond in every way we can through many different resources.

Matt Baker told me this morning that he is going to put an ad in the Herald Leader for the coaching position. He also told me that "we have gotten some feelers from folks that are interested" in the coaching position. He did not tell me who, nor would I say if he had, if he asked me not to, so, don't ask me, please. This tells me one major thing, that he and the admin are very serious about hiring someone that is going to make a difference. He did also speak about the weightlifting thing for our football program, he said that he would personally go over and make sure they are lifting during 6th and 7th periods, he said Mike has been out some and is voting on all area and other things,etc, but he would personally make sure they were lifting. He also went over the new volunteer, Mr. Coleman, weightlifting and strength coordinator, things are still being worked out in this area. He and Chris did meet with him and they feel like he does know his stuff when it comes to this area. He does have a few concerns that they are going to iron out for that program. Sounds like things are going in the right direction folks.. :thumb:

Mrs. Hoops, can't say I blame them at this point of the season, Elliot is that good and Greenup is still working on getting better, why would Coach Fraley want to take a huge butt kicking at this early in the season to get his kids morale beat down, especially after a win against Russell last Friday, I think they will make it up but not this month and like I said, can't say I blame them.. Elliot is a real good ball team.

What are his #'s, 40, bench, squat, height, weight, GPA, etc....

I know the equipment has been bought, I know they are looking for a place to put all the equipment, I know as soon as they have the spot that they are going to start using all the equipment and I know all of that is in Matt's plate as we speak and I do know he is getting a lot of pressure on getting it done ASAP. As far as all the other changes I think they will and should wait on the new coach so he can be involved in some of the major decisions that will effect his/our program. I really believe we will see some very good changes in GCHS football in the very near future that will last, and I also believe we will be hearing more about a coach after the playoffs are over and I also believe that Randy, Matt and Chris want to get a good coach on board as soon as we all do but they want to make sure they hire the right person for GCHS.

Great point, a lot of pros on this side of it and the biggest pro is, I see it eventually mending fences, healing old wounds and getting rid of that stigma that we have here now. It will take a strong leader to get it done and done right and I have high hopes in Mr. Hughes, Matt and Chris in getting that done for us as well.

Spindoc, you are da man. I just want to interject what I have researched and been told by a dozen programs that have field turf in thier system, the past one was Saturday night at Tates Creek High School, they have had it for 5 years and Joe Ruddell, AD there told me, "You can not, not, afford to do it." He went on to say it has saved them money, they have got thier investment back 2 fold (they put 1.7 mil in it going to cost us 400K estimated), improved not only the facility, the education programs that deal with physical ed and etc and improved the athletic program (Dom Fucci was in there when I was speaking to him about it and he said he was practicing baseball on it like it is outside right now) but brought the community together and created a sense of community pride that was never there before, and these folks have very, very sucessful program in many areas, and Lexington is not the only place this is happening, it is happening all over and the results are more pros than cons, the only con is the initial cost but there are a some folks working on that end of it, it needs to happen at GCHS..

I can find out for us.... I was just told state of the art and 40K worth has already been ordered and Matt is trying to find a place to put it so the entire school system can benefit from it.

Doc, you are a great person and I know for one, you have no selfish intensions at all in this but the betterment of the program but you have to agree that something drastic has got to be done about the situation that is alive and killing GCHS, "which is them vs. us", we need to bring "them and us" together as one, what is GCHS motto, one for all and all for one, well it is time we start living by that creed and I think that this is something worth a try to mend those fences and heal those ol' wounds... Tough times calls for tough measures but handled with velvet gloves...

They did win the first game, the second game they didn't have any fire, didn't act like they wanted to play, the first game at Russell on Saturday they played very well.

We have to come together to get better, seperation keeps us divided. I do believe there are pros and cons to both sides of this issue but in the long run, to make Greenup County, not just GCHS, a better place, we need to start mending the fences somewhere and this may be a tough place to start, but change is tough for most but a change is needed and this just might be the one way to go and start mending those fences, healing up those old wounds and we all come together for the common good, that is what needs to happen here folks..
