It is between two coaches and either one is solid.

This is from Superintendent Hughes when I asked him about this issue yesterday, "We are considering an after practice activity bus that could drop off students at their respective outlying schools. Parents could pick them up at those closer locations." This should help, give our BOE a call and tell them you support this completely.

We need to try and see why it's not being done... Because it most certainly does need to be done. Liability issue maybe, we will check into it..

I agree it is not the admin's job to push the kids to do it but somebody at the school should be motivating the kids that are not lifting to lift. I know there are about a dozen of the kids that are hitting the weights hard and they are pushing the other kids to come out and lift. Again, I am just perplexed by it, really... I think it just shows us where the football program is currently.

There are probably 10-12 kids on the football team that are taking advantage of this program, with the exception of the few that are on the basketball team, I really can't tell you why this is not being pushed by our admin. This may be giving us a look at where our program is currently, which is not a good look. I really don't understand it at all.

The new strength coach is lifting on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's after school for any kid that is participating in GCHS athletics. The football players are still lifting in 7th period as well. I believe with the new coach coming on it will intensify.

I hope the new coach tells any parent or booster that questions his decisions to take their kid and/or money and go to the house and no, not a direct line, but I will help in any way that I can all he has to do is ask me and I will do everything I can do to make it happen.

Pressure to hire the right person that is going to bring GCHS football to where it needs to be, pressure to make sure our kids get the best person to lead them not only in football but in life, pressure of all the past issues of the program and not wanting to repeat or get back into all of that political mess, pressure of everyone in our county and within the state and tri-state that is watching the program to see which way we are going to go with a coach, are we really going to make a difference or is it going to be the same ol GCHS political garbage that has tainted the program currently... I would say that is enough pressure for anyone, what you say Coupon?

You are right Coupon, they have a lot of pressure on them and they do realize how important of a decision they have and what it is going to do to the future of GCHS football. I have faith in Matt and Chris and I mean that, I have had several good discussions with them both and they really want to bring the best person in for our program.

That is exciting, just gave me chill bumps... He wants to be totally involved and I know that is what Matt and Chris are looking for in the coach we hire.

Balanced, he likes to run and pass... He also wants to be involved in the program from K-12, all the way through, he is fired up about GCHS, I can tell you that..

Matt has checked him out pretty intensely and thinks that he basically got the shaft, he is one of the 4 that I think could be a good choice for our program.

Been discussed, don't know if he has "officially" applied as of yet, will know after the 8th... Matt is picking up the official applications from the BOE either Friday or Monday, that is when we will know who has "officially" applied, Matt and Chris have spoke to several solid coaches that are very interested and most of them have told them they did apply. We have some coaches that were on the fence, waiting to hear about facilities, etc. and didn't want their teams knowing they might be interested in another position unless they were for sure about it, so this is where we are standing right now. I do know of the folks that Matt and Chris have spoken to that there are 4 very solid coaches that are interested in the position.

We have committments from the BOE to hire what our new head coach wants for assistants within reason and Matt also wants the coach to be able to bring his guys in to help as well.

Not true at all.. I know who has applied and who hasn't and all the speculation on here about who has and how many have are not true, except for Conley, he is out, he would be coaching for free, retirement would not send him a check if he got the position. We will hear something within the next two weeks and Coupon is right, it will probably be someone no one has even suggested yet. There are several really good candidates.
