You are right Doc but we still have a good team to work with, a lot of young talent coming into the sophomore year and our Juniors are strong as well. We have several great athletes walking the halls and with Mike Hampton coming out I look for a couple more great athletes to follow. Coach Copley will get them motivated for some FOOTBALL.... :thumb:

Coach Copley is going to be looking for leaders right from the get go from our young men, they will need to step up big time, he runs his program like a small college and it will be an eye opener for most of our young men because they have not been a part of such a class act program. The more I listen and learn about Coach Copley the more excited I get for our program. I spoke to Kitchen, he is ready to put on the Green, Black and Gold so kill those rumors, he is jacked up about Coach Copley...

We are very lucky B350, Coach Copley is the right man at the right time for GCHS, no doubt!

Just spoke to coach, he was going to be at the school Friday morning but since school is out he will meet with them on Monday, fit them with helmets and shoulder pads and start spring practice on Thursday and it looks like he will lay some serious ground rules then for all the kids. #1 they better be in the weight room and giving everything they got, he is firing me up, wishing I could put the pads back on:thumb:...

Hampton is playing. As far as the monitoring, not sure, Coach has a system...

Spoke to coach last night, he will be at the school on Friday. The boys better be ready to hit it hard, he is going to put them all on certain diets (individually) and set expectations in the weight room for each player, finally we see the light...

I know they are trying to get it done, last I heard is they were waiting on the equipment to get in so they can start getting it set up...

Coach Copley stated yesterday that he has been told that we hope to have him at GCHS by the end of next week. Let's hope that is the case.

Not many, but today my son is starting back since JV is done, so maybe he will get some others to follow..

I agree, so does Coach Copley but what do you do? We have George Coleman there Monday, Wednesday and Friday for all sports, they need to participate. George told me last night that the 42K worth of equipment should be in next week and they are going to put the weight room in one of the old agriculture rooms and it will be state of the art facility.:thumb:

I agree but that is when Coach said he "hopes" he gets to start.

That is tough because it really helped the passing defense.

Matt Baker is working on making the weight room a first class facility inside the the high school, moving it from it's existing location.

That is true to an extent, it has been 30 years, 30 years, since any major money has been spent on the program. It is time to do the things that are needed the most - 1) give Coach the coaches he needs, 2) build a first class fieldhouse, 3) lights 4) stadium seating. Then we will be up on the level with the folks we are competing with in facilities. This needs to happen and I believe will happen.

There were some negotiations done with this deal before the board meeting: Coach Copley's priorities were #1 Coaches for his team, #2 Fieldhouse for the field, #3 lights and bleachers. Coach didn't want bermuda (too much maintenance cost and it just doesn't do well in this area after the middle of the season) so it was decided to let that money go back into the system and in order for us to get these priorities we backed off the turf issue at this time. (sometimes when you reach for the stars you get the moon) I have been told that these priorities will be a reality before next season by the powers that be due to money that is available through construction and the stimulus bill. Good things are going to happen at GCHS football, just hang in there and keep fighting the fight and forget those haters out there that just don't want to see GCHS get to where we are going to be because it will happen.

There is a special called board meeting tonight to go over facilities for the football field. We need everybody there for support, I have other obligations and can't be there but we need a very strong contingent to show our support for whatever they decide to do for us and our facilities. It is at 6 p.m. at the board of education office.
