After 2 weeks the teams are beginning to shake out. CCH has a loss to the same Indiana team which Ryle beats 2-0 and a tie to SK who is thin after the starting 11. HHS has a couple victories over Oldham and Lafayette but their schedule has some tough matches on the horizon. At this point in the season it looks like Ryle HHS, than CCH and SK. I did hear however Collegiate put a hurt on Ryle in a scimmage.

I saw that also that Ballard was playing 2 tournaments in the same week. If they play in the finals Saturday night that would be their second game of the day. They are scheduled to play at 11 at North Oldham.

I'm guessing there trying to figure out the back line as they had a senior graduate and an all nky defender not play his senior year. Those pesky baseball scholarships!

Ohio schools are also only allowed 5 players from the same club team.

Highlands can scout 6 opponents driving over to watch the colonial classic. Not sure how much teams scout each other in soccer.

That highlands kid is the real deal. He finishes very well, good foot skills, very quick. Size might be a problem but I have seen him play against older kids and he held his own.

Referees have no authority when it comes to who plays jv. If coaches agree to pull Jr's off so middle schoolers it's on them. The coaches are totally responsible. I agree the coaches usually discuss it before games but I have seen where some team can only play if there middle shoolers play so the Jr's are left out or the game is cancelled.

St X in Kentucky has 24 players on there roster 22 of them seniors. Not sure why CC would turn in a roster to the khsaa that had kids cut though.

Covington Catholic 2

Looking at the roster posted on khsaa CC looks to have 38 players between jv and varsity. Ten seniors means that 4 to 6 Jr's on jv. I think Highlands numbers are going to be similar.

Looks like the teams are Covington Catholic, Ballard. Kcd, St. Henry, Bishop Brossart, Oldham cty and East Central (ind). Missing is the 8th team. Looks like a Ballard vs Cov.Catholic early season match up.

Looks like the number of referee's registered for this season is really low. Less than half have registered compared to last season. I understand that the bgsg will be short next week. If your a former player and you would like to make a little money consider registering.

What I find interesting is how each coach requests which group they want o play in (a,b,c). Ryle in B is a little surprising. Lots of NKY teams in the B division.:shy:

Doty has pitched in a state final. I'll go with experience.

More interesting will be what grades coaches will give themselves.

If HHS looses Gessner that definitely brings them back to the pack. Looks like the DA might bring some parity to the girls side. That might be the end of any more state titles for nky.
