If everything can get worked out then Jim Hicks will be the next coach at Somerset. He is the one that they want.

Bath Co. had their best season in school history under him this year. If you have read the latest articles in the Ashland Daily then you would have known that the United States Department of Education found in Coach Hicks favor. They said that he was wrongfully fired and retaliated against. So, I definitely would not listen to anything that Greenup has to say. Coach Hicks is a very good coach and like I said he would be a great hire for Somerset. Now will he take the job is yet to be determined. I do know that he is very happy at Bath Co.

You need to get your facts straight. Payne is an assistant for Tennessee Tech not ETSU. Their record was horrible this year and the whole coaching staff at Tennessee Tech is losing their jobs. Steve Payne would not be a good hire. Just because you coach college basketball does not mean you would be a good high school coach.

There has been a lot of talk the last couple of days with Jim Hicks and the Somerset administration. Coach Hicks would be a perfect fit for Somerset.

Jim Hicks is the one that they want. I was told that there has been some talk between Coach Hicks and the Somerset administration.

What planet are you on gswilder. Xavier and Butler are both better programs than UK right now. If they are recruiting him them Uk better be recruiting him. This Mid-Major & High Major is a bunch of crap. I guess Stephen Curry from Davidson could not play for Uk either because Davidson is not listed as a high major.

Bath Co. returns 4 starters. They have some really good young kids coming up in the program as well. Taylor Maze and Zak Metz will give Bath a great 1-2 punch next year. They will also have size with 6'4 Joe Mabry & 6'5 Scott Trusty.

That was not a true state title in 77. They got killed in the final game against a team from Louisville. So really it was just a runner up finish.

The bottom line is that football will never win at Greenup, but basketball will.

Who do you think is the leading candidate if Hatcher is not?

I heard that Alan Hatcher was the leading canidate for the Greenup job.

Good coaches do not have back to back losing seasons. Yes he won games when he had talent, but most all coaches can do that.

Please do not mention Ashland with the likes of these other programs. Ashland had a losing season this year and if I recall they lost 9 games in a row at one point. What Ashland did 40 to 50 years should not factor in. The bottom line is what have you done lately. NOTHING.

The bottom line is that Coach Hicks is a very good Coach. At Greenup he became only the second coach in school history to win a district championship. In his last season at Greenup and his first at Bath his record is 44-16. At Bath this year he did one of the best coaching jobs that I have seen in a long time. Bath won the district for the first time in 31 years, won 20 games for the first time in 24 years, and had their first winning season for the first time in 18 years.

I have talked to several different people that have confirmed that Rowan County is very interested in Hiring Jim Hicks as their next Head Boy's basketball coach.

I can honestly say that I have not spoken to Coach Hicks about this. My source told me that Coach Hicks was seen talking to Board members in a restaurant in Morehead. The source also said that one of the board members exact words was we would love to have you here at Rowan County. The person that told me this is a Rowan County fan and has no reason to lie.

A source has just told me that Rowan Co. is very interested in Coach Hicks. The source said that they already have or will be getting in contact with him to talk about him taking the job.

No, not overcoming adversity. They are just very lucky that they drew Russell, because if they would have drawn Raceland or Lewis then their season would have ended last night.

Fish, I meant that he could have delayed it to next year and then dealt with it. I did not mean wait until next season and then get suspended for one game. He just wanted it to be over and not have any distractions during the post season. The KHSAA did not do anything but say that it was Bath Co.'s decision because they can not do anything with an anonymous letter. They did say that if someone else wrote a letter and signed a name to it then the KHSAA could get involved and there could possibly be a suspension if it was found to be true that Coach Hicks called the official out by name. And since the radio station did not tape the post game show, then it could have drug on for a month, so like I said he chose to sit out the game and put closure to it. I hope you can also put closure to this issue.
