Some public schools won't play the DII privates. It appears some in KY won't play Trinity either. With the playoff system as it is...and with the toughness of the teams in that district...it would be a risk to play any good teams...non district. If you lose...you may not make the playoffs...or have to travel in them. It's a catch 22. If you play up...you may lose but get better. If you play down...you might win but not get better. The playoff system is a mess. It is changing back to near the old system next year. Many also think there will be a total public private split. It may happen...but I doubt it. There was a statewide vote on whether to totally split. I think publics voted to split by an overwhelming majority. I think over 75%.

Not much to argue about with that many penalties against McCallie. The main reason Blackman doesn't have any titles is they are a relatively new school (opened in 2000) and they play in the same division with all the other Rutherford County schools and Maryville. I doubt BG would have won any titles in that district and division in the last several years.

I think Ensworth will win...but should be a good game,

Lots of teams in TN. The odds of them playing are not that good. McCallie does play Siegal which is in Murfreesboro also. If you had gone to Blackman...you would have been ok. To say any different is silly. I have never heard of anyone being treated any different at Blackman than anywhere else. They have great facilities just as all Murfreesboro schools do. You would have had your own side to sit. It would have been a good game to play. Too bad it won't happen. Since the streak is over...would have made BG better for sure.

They lost...not sure who the best team was. With that many penalties...and lost by one on the road. Blackman was good last year but not near the best in TN. They are much better this year. Too bad BG decided not to return the commitment. Well...moot point anyway.,

That is true...but with a long streak comes titles.

McCallie is no slouch. BG has a very good team that will likely win another title. A streak that long against anyone is an incredible accomplishment.

Rules should be the same. They both use national high school rules.

Funny it always seems to happen up there. I am sure McCallie was expecting it.

McCallie has Ensworth...Baylor...and Brentwood Academy all at home the next 3 games. That should tell how good they are. I think they are pretty good to overcome that many penalties and still win at BG.

Probably no better than 5th in their division.

I think Trinity is really good. They should have a very good season.

Alcoa will not be challenged in 3a except maybe by CPA. Depends on if they play all out to win against Maryville or not. I don't think they did last year. It is just a pride game. They are about 5 miles apart. Both teams are defending champs & the favorites to repeat in 3a & 6a respectively. They are the Trinity & Highlands dominant teams in TN DI.

Loads of talent for 2 teams in the same town. Other Rutherford teams are pretty good also.

They could. Wouldn't count Oakland out by any means. They will likely meet again in the playoffs. Maryville is very good again. They play Alcoa this Friday. That will be a good one.

I watched Hoover get beat yesterday. They are fun to watch. Should be an interesting game.

If I remember correctly...Ensworth had 3 touchdowns called back. Trinity had no answer for Ferby. The only thing that slowed him down was cramps. Ferby is gone but Ensworth just reloads. I am sure Trinity is better than last year. This should be a good one again.

I don't doubt that. I didn't think they would stay down long.

That is just on the past. Milan was down last year missing the playoffs. Hard to say how accurate that prediction is.

They did play later last year. They moved the game up for ESPN. And yes...one of them will likely play Maryville again.
