If there is one thing to be said about Banks, that would be that he had control of his team. I believe that is why some players quit and others didn't play. Some players seemed to want to decide who played and at what positions and Banks wouldn't allow them to make the decisions. I think the high hopes for Breathitts season ended when these players quit or didn't come out for the team, but Banks has shown he will controll the team and that will pay off in the long run for him and all the sophomores that stuck it out. I enjoyed watching the kids play and improve throughout the year and the future could be bright for this group of young men.

It will definitely be an exciting night of basketball. Hazard should be able to get by Estill, and I think that PCC will get by Letcher in a close one. Those kids at PCC have really bought into Hatcher's system and it is an effective system. It may not be that much fun to watch, but it's effective.

I would be excited with any regional tournament win.

Perry Central has a fine ball club. Hatcher has done a great job of getting his kids to adjust to his system. He will have them well prepared Monday night. I think Perry and Hazard meet once again in the finals

I know Breathitt hasn't had the year that was expected, but I don't think they are 8th. They have beaten PCC once, Estill, Cordia and Jackson twice

Any team that lost a player like Nick Noble to Owsley Co., Have two starters that quit after starting the first 10 games, and still end up 13-13 and go into the regional as a district champ, would not consider themselves a disappointment. I am proud of the kids they have on the floor and support them one hundred percent. These kids that are still there never get any credit for what they accomplished after being put in a position to play varsity when the most thought they would be JV players this year. Congratulations to the two seniors and the six or seven sophomores and their accomplishments so far and good luck.

I agree, this game will be mucher closer than some think.

Jackson is a pretty good team, Estill better come to play or it will be a battle.

It was a mistake I agree, but not theft. Was the kid that got to stay in the game not important to the team. Maybe it was a break for Jackson that he was on the floor. He had a bunch of threes and was probably their leading scorer. I bet he thinks that he was just as important as Davidson, especially on this night when he was playing so well. To me he was Jackson's best player in that game.

I think the technical was called because the player hit a Breathitt player in the jaw with his elbow.

No tarnished win, but it was a hard fought 4th quarter.

So you are saying that if a kid Sprints down the floor after trying to get a loose ball, gets into position and takes a hard hit from an offensive player who is going full speed, that he should be rewarded for that effort by a no call because it is late in the game. A charge is a charge no matter if it is in the first 10 seconds of a game or the last 10 seconds. How can you even suggest that a player should not be rewarded for a great defensive effort because it is late in the game. Should the defensive just step to the side and not take the charge because it is late in the game. If Breathitt blocked the shot instead of taking a charge, should they give it back to Jackson and let them try again because it is late in the game. A charge is a charge and I applaude the kid for having the instincts and determination to get in position and take the charge. He saved the game with this great defensive effort and your trying to say it shouldn't have been called.

90% of the referees would have been wrong not to call the charge and give Jackson City the game. It was a charge and it would have been wrong not to call it. The Breathitt kid got into position took the charge and saved the game. They may have mistakenly called it on the wrong kid, but it was definitely a charge. Davidson did not play well anyway, 4 points I think and the other kid hit several threes, so it could have worked in Jackson's favor

I think that any of the 8 teams could win their first round game. Hazard, Estill, Perry, and Letcher are the favorites in their games, but don't be surprised to see an upset. There will always be a cinderella team come tournament time.

I don't think we should post Referee names on the board. They do the best job they can do and sometimes they make mistakes just like players and coaches. Both teams played hard and deserve a lot of credit. The fact is that the game was called even throughout with each team going to the line about the same. Breathitt shot 10 free throws, 4 of them in the last 10 seconds, and Jackson shot 8 free throws. I think after any game that both sides could look back and say that the refs gave the other team the breaks, but the fact is that fans only see and remember the ones that went against them. Two or three breaks in the first quarter can change a game just as much as a break in the fourth quarter. It was a classic district championship game and lets all move on to the region. Oh yeah, AJ's last name is not Campbell.

The only charge call was the one on Drew and it was a good call. Before we get into the referees, lets look at the free throws for this game. Breathitt shot 10, 4 of them coming in the last 10 seconds, and Jackson shot 8. This was a hard fought game that had an exciting ending. Breathitt had a 12 point lead at the half and at the end of third quarter. They led by as many as 17 or 19 in the second half, but went ice cold from the field in the fourth quarter. It came down to Jackson having to foul, but they only had four fouls called on them with about a minute and a half left, so they had to foul three times to put Breathitt on the line. Hollon missed the front end of a bonus, but Smith tipped it out to him and Jackson fouled Hollon again. Hollon missed again and Jackson got the rebound and threw it out of bounds. Breathitt inbounded to Smith with 1.6 left and Jackson fouled him. Smith missed the first one and tried to miss the second intentionally, but missed the rim. Jackson inbounded to Howard for a desperation shot that missed. Both teams played hard and it was an exciting game, so lets not turn this into an argument about officiating. Breathitt was not even in the bonus in the second half til around the last 30 seconds or so. Good luck to both teams in the region next week.

I agree Pallex, Smith should have a big game and Hollon is starting to shoot the ball a lot better. I think Breathitt will win by 15-20, but Jackson will probably keep it close for awhile.

I think they rescheduled for tomorrow night. If Buckhorn could pull the upset, then this regional tournament would be wide open. Hazard has to be the favorite after the JBS loss tonight, but watch out for Letcher Central.

If Cox and Collins had been allowed to be more involved in the offense, then JBS wins the region. They were the keys to JBS success and when they get left out, JBS doesn't win. Just my opinion. Letcher Central does have a great team and has a chance to win the region, but I believe JBS could have repeated if they involved these two young men more.
