So at the State tournament when I particular team makes it they out to bring in a crew from that region to do their game? Also, at the State tourney the crews have never worked together and are made up of 3 from a different region. Why do you think at state you are not allowed to do a game with a team from your region? Why should it be any different at the regional level to determine who gets to play for the championship?

Then you should apply because your responses are almost at a 6th grade level!

Let's not make that a requirement or we wouldn't have these discussions on any topic. Then we couldn't have parents on here hyping their kid in third person as if they are not in the next room, there would be no calling out officials by name and bashing their job performance, etc. What would there be to discuss and banter about? :idunno:

I've seen several assistant coaches this year that need to be at SOAS coaching recreation and middle school games. IMO they're not quite ready for the intensity and pace of the high school game.

If a particular assistant coach could control himself and shut his mouth then it wouldn't have been an issue. You were two rows behind the bench so surely you heard him directly address the refs throughout the game. Also the one I'm referring to went out on the court during a time out to talk to the referee who graciously allowed him to do so though it isn't allowed. Simply an adult who can't behave like one.

I agree with madman's point. I watched a Grant Co. game this year where literally, 3 minutes into the first quarter, the opposing team was shooting two shots on every foul. It wasn't basketball.

Many officials do scrimmages for free and I know for a fact that 9th region does the Kelsey Sorrell Memorial tournament for free. The summer high school AAU tournament held at the KBA in Lexington has all of its games officiated for free. In fact the official pay to be there. Each do 6 to 8 "free" games over 3 days. So yes they would and do referee for free on occasion. They ask players to retrieve loose balls because every training or camp you go to clinicians talk about dead ball officiating and that eyes should be on the players at all times while they are on the court together. It is especially important in the two man game that one is not chasing a ball and not watching the kids. It is usually during this times that trash talk happens the most and the possibility of retaliation is greater.
