  1. IMO there needs to be a rule about calling a TO during field goals. I'm not exactly sure how it would work, but the all those high-ranking officials in the NCAA and NFL, I'm sure, could figure something out.

Maybe give the defending team 5 seconds to call a timeout after the offense is set, after that... No TO!

I hate the fact that coaches are making these kids kick field goals twice now. That's not how the game is supposed to be played.

The kicking team can change their signal calling patterns so that the time cannot be called so close to the kick. If you are expecting it, there's a way to counter almost anything.

However, the answer is simple really. Just reverse the rule change made a several years ago that allows the coach to call time out. Before that, only a player on the field could call time. The only way a player can be in a ref's ear to call the TO precisely at the time before the snap, he would have to be out of position. Hand signals take longer to do and aren't always seen.

  2. October 6 at No. 10 Rutgers

    October 13 Louisville

    October 20 at Pittsburgh

November 3 at No. 18 South Florida

    November 10 Connecticut

November 17 No. 5 West Virginia

    November 24 at Syracuse

These are Uc's remaining games???? I see them going 2-5 or maybe 3-4 .

    What does everyone else think???

Why can't they win all of those?

(I prefer they win only six of them, by the way. :D)

  3. Good luck to your Bull's the rest of the season I hope they win the Big East...

(I felt that way after they beat my second favorite team AU:p).

Thanks me, too. I would love nothing better, but I am a realist. However, with every win, I get to have a little fun with the nay sayers. :D

BTW - I'm pulling for the War Eagles right now. The only part of a Gator I like is the tail, and Bally Hoo's is the only place that does them up right.

  4. I believe they will pass Oregon, Texas, Clemson, and Rutgers, but I'm not certain WVU will fall beyond UK and don't discount the possibility that USF will jump up over UK. But there is certainly a chance. It'd be nice if they could move up there and then beat USC to stay for two weeks.
If you read what's out there right now, you'd think USF may fall out of the top 25. :D

Big East looking like a big disappointment

  5. :thumb: I'm embarrassed to say that just a few weeks ago I said the Big East was the third best conference in the country.... SELL!
So did Colin Coward. So did a lot of the "experts".

Remember, these "experts" are the guys who cried when the BCS pitted Ohio State and Florida in the National Championship, because they thought Michigan deserved a rematch. Most also picked the Buckeyes in a landslide. They also had Michigan ranked in the top 5 at the start of the season.

  6. Connecticut, Syracuse and USF are atop the Big East standings... That's sad
It is. In fact, I find it down right embarrassing to have gone to USF, much less be a fan. I hope they lose soon so the conference can redeem itself. If they keep winning, there will be no point in me getting out of bed in the morning 'cause the Big East will be so bad.

    :D

  7. I picked WVU but this is actualy not that big of an upset imo. USF is for real and as another poster has stated I don't think that many would want them right now. Jim Levitt imo is one of the finest coaches in Ameica, he is imo definately Underated.

The talent in Florida high schools is absolutely amazing. To think that USF has a majority of in state kids - and that is with the likes of Miami, UF, FSU amoung quite a few other Florida teams whose rosters have a large number of in state kids.

USF now is in the drivers seat for the Big East title, they have Rutgers next week I believe and still have Cincy left as well. Imo these three along with WVU are the best in the conference. Imo UC may very well decide who wins the Big East, I don't think that they will win it themselves this season but with their defense along with the defenses of USF and Rutgers makes these the front runners for te conference title.

    JMO

Only 10 members of the USF roster are not home grown. 22 Mountaineers are from Florida as compared to 23 that hail from West Virginia.

They play at Florida Atlantic next week. They are at Rutgers on Oct. 18. Cincinnati comes to Raymond James on Nov. 3rd.

  8. #18 South Florida sends #5 West Virginia packing, in yet another stunning upset of the 2007 season.

Just got a call from Swamprat. He's in the middle of the insanity on the field! He says it is total chaos. I just hope he doesn't get hurt by falling off the goal post!

It sounded like I was on the field, but I was actually in the upper section. That's how loud it was 15 minutes after the game ended. I've been to many college games, and have never experienced anything like that.:banana::banana:
  9. White didn't have it when he was in either...
That's what I saw. He went out with 20 seconds left in the first half and the score 14-0, 7 of that 14 coming from a White interception. Slaton and the vaunted phenom Devine had 88 yards between them, with Slaton coughing it up twice. The USF defense played an absolutely fantastic game. Much better than against Aurburn.

It's amazing how every team USF beats is all of the sudden overrated, or did not have all their personnel. I expect that attitude will prevent much advance in the top 20 as well. That's OK, though. Still got scoreboard. The atmosphere at RayJay was amazing tonight, too. They did a great job converting the field. It looked great. The Bulls and Bucs played there just last Saturday and Sunday and we haven't had much rain since then.

  10. It's a valid question depending on Kelly's motives. Maybe Kelly is like Jim Levitt, who has turned down K-State and Alabama (twice). He (Levitt) wants to build a national power from scratch, instead of taking over and rebuilding one. He wants his job to be the one others covet. I hope Kelly is like that, because keeping good coaches is good for the Big East.
