  1. The Lone Oak team is a good one. They well have strong challenges against Calloway Friday night and in a couple of weeks with Hopkins Central. Their defense really needs to step up to win those games. If they win those two, they should win out on the rest of their schedule.
  2. I'm familiar with both Lone Oak and Tilghman this year. It would be an excellent game but Lone Oak would have to be the favorite. Tilghman's offensive weapons don't match up to what LexCath demonstrated and LO's defense would match up much better with Tighman's offensive line. I respect Tilghman's program immensely, but their offensive scheme was not all that great this year. They wouldn't contain the LO pass attack any better than WE, North Bullitt or Calloway. You always hear that you shouldn't compare scores but LO was much more convincing in defeating Heath and Union Co in the regular season than was Tilghman.
  3. Leo, I've made a very fair point that LexCath is head and shoulders above the rest of 4A. You can hype your apparent belief that Bell Co is far superior to LO all you want. It's an irrelevant issue. I choose to be happy with what LO did this year and hope for even more in the future.
  4. No offense, but are you serious? LO got to the championship game. LexCath is just a fantastic team that is miles ahead of the rest of the class. LexCath manhandled Bell Co and Harrison as well. Should those two teams move down to 3A as well!?!? As a Lone Oak fan all I can say is congratulations to the Knights. You guys were awesome. Guy and Israel are incredible talents. Great lines on both sides of the ball.
  5. I was really surprised by your "fradulent" comment. Lone Oak beat some very fine teams this year, especially in the playoffs. The way LexCath beat Bell Co, Harrison Co and Lone Oak, we can safely say that they are by far the best 4A team in the state. No one else is close. Getting beat by one of the state's best teams makes you neither weak nor a fraud. The kids at Lone Oak deserve a lot better than your garbage statement, whether you wish them well or not. They were "exposed" as one of the best 4A teams in the state, after many people picked them to lose to Calloway Co in the 2nd round.:fight:
  6. I wouldn't disagree with that for a minute. Lexington Catholic is by far the best 4A opponent anyone could face in this state. Most Lone Oak fans appreciate that. In my heart I believe Lone Oak will be the best 4A opponent Lex Cath will face this year. I wish the best to both teams and hope for an excellent championship game.
  7. I know what I've read and researched. I think you can safely say that Lone Oak's passing attack is beyond the challenge pesented by Bell Co. At this point, that statement shouldn't shock anyone. While I'm sure Harrison Co is a fine team, what I heard from reliable sources was that the were the "weakest" of the teams going to the semis. No I haven't seen either team. Have you seen Lone Oak? Any reason to think they present a lesser test than Bell or Harrison?
  8. I know Lex Cath is the favorite. Understandably so. But don't underestimate the LO defense. They shut down a good Calloway squad in the playoffs and put the lid on North Bullitt in the 2nd half of their game. The 35 points scored by Warren East is the most they've given up all year. The held the Raiders when it counted. Duncan and Prescott are excellent on the line. I know Lexington Catholic is the cream of the crop of 4A. They are superior to the Warren and Bulitt teams. At the same time Lone Oak is undoubtedly a stronger foe than Harrison Co and present an offensive challenge much more difficult than Bell Co. It could be a big win for Lex Cath, but I look for the Flash to stay in this game. If they keep it close anything could happen. I think Lone Oak is too fine a team and too well coached to be blown out. We'll just have to see.
  9. I truly believe Coach Haskins will have them ready. Regardless of the schedule, these guys have been challenged to prove themselves every week and they've risen to the occasion each time. You ask a very fair question, but I see LO bringing their A game. Should be a great game between two fine teams!
  10. Thanks for clarifying your opinion of Robinson from seeing him at a camp. I did misunderstand your point. The 5 teams you listed are poor, but Robinson was equally dominant against quality competition. He was spectacular in the comeback against Calloway earlier in the year, passing and rushing. He engineered 2 wins vs Calloway, and wins against Caldwell, Fulton City and North Bullitt, all teams ranked in the top 10 of their respective classes at one point or another. I respect the fact that you are not knocking this kid, but others dog LO's schedule to the point of ridiculous. Lone Oak fans aren't saying the schedule is strong, but it isn't the disaster some claim it to be. That's why I asked the question, "who else has posted Robinson's numbers". If you look at Massey, there are some 100 teams in Kentucky who play weaker schedules. Therefore a slightly better than average QB should have chalked up 4000 yards and 55 TD's in every corner of the state. To hear some detractors, their bowlegged grannies could put up Robinson's numbers if they played his schedule. Any rationale person knows that's garbage. No one else has come close to Corey this year in stats. I know there are other worthy contenders for Mr Football. Stein, Matthews and Farris are all deserving. But LO fans come to Robinson's defense when they see asinine posts. Please know I don't include yours (strongopenyon) in that category.
  11. Name for me any competent QB's in the state who have thrown for even 60 TD's in a season, much less 86, against a "junior varsity schedule"? You say you saw Robinson in some camps. From the tenor of your posts I suspect you weren't impressed. Before the season started many were singing Robinson's praises based on what they saw in the various camps.
  12. Good point. Lone Oak needs to avoid the first quarter it had last week. I believe they will and they should win this one. Go Flash!
  13. As a Lone Oak fan I'll admit Lex Cath is the favorite. But either the Flash or Raiders will give them a great game and could take home the championship.
  14. Matthews is a great talent, but Corey Robinson should be the front runner. Over 5100 yards passing, 86 TD's and a 76% completion rate. He plays excellent defense when called upon to do so. He runs well and is even a good punter. Against a common opponent (North Bullitt) here is a comparison: Matthews: YDS 324 Atts 27 Comp 20 TD 3 Robinson: YDS 348 Atts 51 Comp 33 TD 5 Obviously, Matthews averaged more yards per pass, but Robinson's performance in a fierce playoff game is impressive. 5 TD's stands out to me as a key stat. The constant complaints about LO's schedule are overblown. The schedule is middle of the pack, far from the "worst" many claim it to be. Robinson has been excellent on both sides of the ball in the playoffs. He deserves serious consideration.
  15. That kid is phenomenal. I thought he was a senior. Cissell will definitely make his mark in the record books.:scared:
  16. Quite a job by the Flash tonight against an outstanding North Bullitt squad. Corey Robinson, Jamarielle Brown & Co. showed once again that they are the real deal. Once Robinson got in synch after the 1st quarter, you could feel that they would persevere and come out on top. Robinson deserves a great deal of support for Mr Football. Brown, Drey Duncan and others should get looks for All-State honors. The works not done. It gets even tougher against Warren East next week. I must say I was amazed by the North Bullitt Eagles. Cissell and Reynolds make an outstanding tandem. I was impressed by the ability of Heath's Chad Wright a few weeks back. Cissell is even better and I hope he has success in college.
  17. There is actually a small cemetary beyond the south endzone.
  18. Thanks to the N Bullitt folks for the good posts. Good luck in what should be a great game.
  19. They have an excellent rush defense. They have incredible team speed. They tend to lose close games. The Christian Co. loss comes to mind.
  20. I understand Cissell is a phenomenal player. Any college offers? Does N. Bullit pass very much? My suggested eateries: di fratelli's- downtown (pricey) Kirchoff's- Market House Square (downtown) Holmann House- Comfort food on the Southside via exit 11 The Renaissance- West End near old Coca-Cola plant Jeremiah's-downtown (best steaks in town)
  21. Tilghman should win this game handily. I hope they get better fan support next Friday. The home crowd was sparse and that's putting it kindly.
