  1. Robinson did play into the 4th quarter. The 2nd string played the last series. Those are the facts. It's also true that this young man has a chance to do something phenomenal, and leaving him in the game is not the horrible sin many suggest. His family, friends, school and community want to see him and the rest of the starters perform. To those who complain that LO "ran up the score" check out the number of 50 point drubbings that took place in the 1st round. I guess Robinson should have been pulled out of all this seasons games, but for Calloway, at halftime. Even at that, folks would still find a reason to slam Lone Oak
  2. The Braves are the best competition Tilghman has in its district this year. That's not saying much! Tilghman should have a bigger win than its 14-0 victory earlier this season.
  3. I believe the Sun recorded 6 TD's for Corey. The one he ran into the endzone was a great play. The young man can move. The officiating was terrible. Corey certainly has the ability to toss 5 TD's next week, but the Calloway defense will make him earn it. They shut out a very good Hopkins Central offense.
  4. I'm a big Lone Oak fan, but you have to admit that Calloway will give the Flash a very tough challenge. They have some excellent athletes and are well coached. They are also motivated after the OT loss at home earlier in the season. At the same time a lot of Lone Oak detractors, and there are tons of them, forget that the Oakers are motivated to show that the first half deficit to Calloway was an aberration. They muffed a couple of punts (give credit to the Lakers' special teams) and Calloway took them out of their game. Lone Oak wants to show that they can beat Calloway, and beat them handily putting together two good halves. The Calloway game was a good wake up call to the Flash and they've played incredibly since, dominating solid teams from Hopkins Central, Fulton City and Heath.
  5. Trigg was very inconsistent the latter part of the season. Heath has been competitive most of their games this year, if you throw out the loss to Lone Oak. Heath even scored 21 points against a very good Tilghman defense. Heath might not be the favorite in this game, but they stand a good shot at winning. Their victory over Caldwell was a "mild" upset.
  6. They would face a decent test in the 2nd round from either Hopkins Central or Calloway. Lone Oak had to come from behind to beat Calloway in overtime earlier this year. In the 3rd round they would potentially see Marion Co. or one of the Bullitt Co. teams. Warren East would be a likely opponent in the 4th round. All contingent on them getting there. They have not seen the likes of a Bell Co. or Lexington Catholic this year, but the Flash have a phenomenal QB, great receivers, good team speed and a great defense against the run.
  7. "Going out on a limb" Muhlenburg's win streak stops Friday night.
  8. Of all the far Western Kentucky schools, Tilghman might have the clearest shot at going to Louisville. They played a tough nondistrict schedule and had a very easy district challenge. With all the talk of Lone Oak v Calloway, Mayfield v Fulton City and Marshall being better than everyone else, Tilghman's been flying under the radar. They will be far more conspicuous once the playoffs get in full swing. Webster has no chance of derailing the Tornado this soon.
  9. Like you, I'd pick Caldwell over Heath, but you can't count the Pirates out. They moved the ball fairly well against a very good Lone Oak defense last week. Their running back Wright broke for two or three impressive runs after being hit for losses. They just ran out of steam by halftime. I don't see the Tigers containing Wright anymore that the Oakers did and if the game stays reasonably close, Heath could pull the upset.
  10. This contest, along with Muhlenburg North at Lone Oak, will be the proof from the western end of the state that too many teams are included in the expanded playoff system. The Pilots don't have a prayer.
  11. Unless Marshall Co. experiences a bad hangover from the Bowling Green game, they should beat the Colonels without too much difficulty.
