HoopSeen.com has release their national top 100 for the class of 2018. Steven Fitzgerald is ranked #94 and is the only player from KY in the top 100.

Casey Co. lost a lot of size inside to graduation. They do return their top 2 scorers in G Jacob Smith (Sr.) and PG Colin Miller (Sr.). They also return C/F Breece Hayes (Sr.) and G Maximo Reyes (So.).

Jared Southerland (Jr.) will be the only returning contributor for Danville next year. Everyone else will have very little if any varsity experience.

I have not heard what Woods will be doing. He has been coaching his son's AAU team this spring but have not heard his plans for next season.

Colton Fraley is a very talented incoming freshman and will definitely be playing varsity this year! He has the potential to work himself into a starting position at some point in time.

I have heard that Chris Fitzgerald will not be coaching Southern Middle School and will be the JV coach at Pulaski. Blankenship will be the freshman coach, Lee Fitzgerald the strength and conditioning coach, and Shannon Fraley is staying at Northern Middle School. Coach Powell, who was on the bench last year was told he would not be on the bench this year.

Pulaski will be hands down favorite in the 12th Region and probably top 5 in the state if I were guessing. The lineup will be 5 of these 6 players (as of now): Treyvon Sylvester (Sr.) - C Steven Fitzgerald (Jr.) - F/G Joe Saterfield (Sr.) -F/G Jorell Saterfield (So.)- G Danny Butt (Jr.) - PG/G Landon Powell (Sr.) - PG/G

They will be loaded next year!

From the HoopSeen report: The 16 and under division of the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions was loaded with talent. Here is a look at our top five overall performers at the 2016 tournament. Trevon Faulkner, SG, The Travelers: Faulkner distanced himself as one of the top players in the 16U division because of his all-around game. The 6-foot-4 lefty does a little bit of everything on the floor, but his biggest attribute is his shot-making ability. The sophomore showed he was more than capable of hitting 3’s and mid-range pull-ups off the dribble, as well as some plays at the rim. Faulkner has a solid body that allows him to rebound and take bumps, too. Faulkner has yet to receive his first scholarship offer, but he is more than worthy of mid-major and high-major looks going forward. - Garrett Tucker Steven Fitzgerald was also a top five performer this past weekend at Bob Gibbons TOC. 2 outstanding players in 2018!

Steven Fitzgerald, SG, Louisville Magic: Fitzgerald was one of the highest scorers in the 16U division, playing the role of sniper from long range for the Louisville Magic. His shooting from deep allowed him to beat closing defenders and find driving lanes to score at the rim. He also showed off a little bit of sneaky athleticism. Overall, he proved that he belongs in the national conversation this weekend. = Carter Wilson Trevon Faulkner was also mentioned in the top five performers this past weekend. Steven is having another great weekend. This time the Magic are at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. Saturday he scored 27, 23, and 20 in 3 games.

Taking what is being discussed in the football section, I thought I would start a post for basketball. KHSAA has changed the official ball from Rawlings to Spaulding starting next season from what it looks like in the article. What do you think about the Spaulding basketball? I kind of liked the Rawlings basketball and am not familiar with the Spaulding TF1000. Anyone have any experience with Spaulding?

Good for Peyton and Devin Booker. Booker recognized he had an elite talent that is now paying him millions of dollars in the NBA. The earlier you get there, the sooner you make the $$$. Peyton is pretty smart too. I'm guessing he knows the NBA is probably not in his future but getting his college education paid for while playing the game he loves is. By the way you are down playing Peyton's abilities you(or someone in your family) had, has, or will have student loans in college. Maybe not, but you are coming across as a person who is envious of someone's success and that individual is doing nothing but following the rules.

Those are simple vector calculus formulas understanding divergence and flux. AAU rules are a lot more complicated than those. lol

Commonwealth Journal Steve Cornelius No stranger to Warrior basketball as a fifth-year assistant coach, Chris Baker was named the new boys basketball at Southwestern High School on Monday afternoon. Baker, who had worked under former Warrior head coach Steve Wright as an assistant for the past five seasons, met with his team on Monday afternoon to tell them he was the new Warrior skipper. "I think a lot of the kids were relieved to see me walk in the locker room today," Baker laughed. "I have coached all these kids for several years, I have watched them grow up and they all know me very well." "This will be an extremely smooth transition," Baker stated. "I have been here in Somerset for five years. I love it here, I am part of the community and I even go to church with some of my players. We were all excited today." Although new to the Southwestern head coaching job, Baker brings a wealth of high school head coaching experience to the table. Before coming to Southwestern, Baker was the head coach at Whitley County High School for four seasons from 2008 to 2011. Also, Baker coached three seasons at Breathitt County High School, where he led the Bobcats to three winning season and left with the third highest career winning percentage in school history. Baker led Breathitt County to a 22-7 record in 20002-03 season, which included a 55th District title and a 14th Region semifinal appearance. Baker spent three seasons at Green County High School from 1997 to 2000. In 1999, Baker led the Green County Dragons to the 5th Region All "A" Championship game. "I have great bosses here at Southwestern High School, and I love working here," Baker stated. "I was content with being a Warrior assistant, but when the head coaching position came open I was very interested in it." "A lot of good candidates applied for this position, and I was sort surprised I got the job," Baker admitted. "I am extremely happy to take on this challenge and continue the excellent Warrior tradition."

He is not about to turn 18 years old.
