Scott County beat Dunbar 73-65 this afternoon.

 

Christian Co. is a team to watch, also.

Christian Co. defeated Henry Clay a while ago, 67-54.

Scott County is the best team I have seen this summer. Should be rated highly, perhaps #1, to start the upcoming season.

This tournament is getting more watered down by the lack of quality teams participating. I wish there was an event that could get the top teams to come each summer.

I suspect it may have a lot to do with teams not wanting to pay lodging costs over multiple nights.

In tourney bracket play tonight, Mercer Co. edged Buckhorn 58-55.

 

Mercer's Trevon Faulkner was in Knoxville working out for the Vols.

 

Mercer's reward? A date with Scott Co. at 10:40 tomorrow morning.

There were a bunch of good teams playing at Collins and Shelby County this Friday and Saturday. Trinity, Lex Cath, Corbin, Desales, Male, Owensboro, Apollo and Madison Central were some of the more "name schools". Trinity is going to be very good. They return a lot. And will be long and athletic on the wings.

Sounds like an interesting year upcoming as usual. The Derrick Smith Shootout usually runs about the same time as this. Does it even still exist?

The Derrick Smith shootout ended around 5 or so years ago
