March 7, 201214 yr Maybe they can get that first game with UK and tie that series record up. They are in the midst of a winning streak against the cats.
March 7, 201214 yr Fant for WKU really impressed me when I turned the game on late...He sounds familiar, is he a ky boy? Yes,He is a hometown boy.George went to Warren Central in Bowling Green.Back in the early 80s I went to BGHS with some fant's.
March 8, 201214 yr The announcers said Fant was the cousin of Jim McDaniels, whose last year in college was 1971, I believe.....41 years ago.. Shouldn't that be "nephew"? Either that, or someone was a fertile octogenarian.

March 8, 201214 yr Not sure if WKU will get a play in game in Dayton. I was told that two teams from the same conference can not play in the 16 seed play in game in back to back years. Since Arkansas-Little Rock represented the Sun Belt last season in the play in game it would seem WKU would not be eligable for the play in game. I dont know how much truth there is to this but Im hoping it is the case. I would hate to see WKU have to play a play in game only to play UK. Personally I would like to see them get a 15 seed and play Murray State. Wishful thinking I know. Anyone but UK please haha.
March 8, 201214 yr ^ I don't think there's any truth to that. I looked through this - DI principles and procedures of selection - NCAA.com - and found no mention of that consideration. Also found this in an article that came out after the First Four format was announced: Guerrero said there would be no limit as to the number of times a conference participates in one of the First Four games. Previously, the opening-round matched the two lowest-rated automatic qualifiers. That standard will still apply for the game between the last two automatic qualifiers for two of the No. 16 seeds. NCAA reveals format of new 68-team tournament - ESPN There is no doubt WKU is going into the First Four. They will almost certainly be seeded #68 in the field. I think the only way they don't play in the game that will advance to play UK is if UK falls from the overall #1. The only other consideration I could see is if they don't want to make Kentucky play another team from the state in Louisville.
March 8, 201214 yr Fant played for Warren Central in Bowling Green. Told my wife while watching game funny how a lot can change in a year. Last year watched team my nephew played for go against Fant in region tournament and this year watching Fant on ESPN2 playing for a chance to make NCAA tournament. Good luck to WKU and great job by coaching staff and players.

There's no chance a team with a losing record gets a 15 seed. There's no chance a team the caliber of Murray State gets anywhere close to a 2 seed.
