Nky Storm Crittenden Scene

Featured Replies

I am a linemen for Duke Energy and have been out here all night and this morning. The devastation is unbelievable seeing where a dump truck is picked up and dropped a 100 ft from where it was parked, farm animals dead everywhere, and homes destroyed.

But the truly most amazing and thing to see is all the volunteers showing up working together, some bringing their own bobcats and equipment, others just bringing themselves and a great spirit of community. It is absolutely inspirational to see people helping people in times of almost unimaginable need.

Great to hear about the community coming together.

Unfortunately I'm at work this morning and haven't been able to help, but about 25-30 guys that were on my CHRP group from my church were meeting this morning at 7 am for breakfast and loading the trucks up and heading south to help wherever needed.

Things like this make me very proud of where I'm from and the way our community bands together in times of need.

Just a few pics of the damage in Crittenden.

I live in Alexandria and I found a piece of insulation stuck in one of my trees this morning. Crazy stuff.

Buddy lives in Union. Found a piece of mail from 112 miles away in Indiana.

I tried to drive around Crittenden and Piner today, but the main roads are still closed.

Roads were closed to allow power companies to reset most/all of the electrical poles that were downed. Violet Road was reopened this afternoon. Not so sure about 25 though.

The Harvesters got hit the worst in Crittenden. Up until this afternoon the only people allowed in we're police and people that live there. I'm not sure if it's still being blocked or not.

Drove through Crittenden today going to my sisters house and I must say I've never seen any thing like that in person before. It's crazy to see it on tv but it is really amazing to see it first hand. Just amazing how powerful mother nature truely is.

Yeah. I saw them out there working. They had 25 and 17 shut down while working on them. As of 6 last night, they were still closed. I know power has been restored to some, but no phones.

It's bad but not nearly as bad as it could've been. I went through the area Saturday and I'll be volunteering there wednesday thru Monday. I saw people that wanted to look and I understand that but it didn't seem that bad atleast not when I was there. I can't fault people for being curious, we usually don't get this around here and most people I saw were people that had previously donated items. Not saying it makes it right, just saying it's not like they got bored and went out looking for cool pics.

That's exactly the reason some people went up there. And it is a problem considering the sheriffs office has to keep deputies there just to keep looky loos out of the sub division.

I was up there 15 minutes after the tornado hit, and I've never seen so many people wanting to get into the harvesters.

You're a good dude.
