According to my calculations, CCH is 26-3 against Holy Cross dating back to 1997 (that's as far back as the KHSAA website goes). However, Holy Cross had won 2 of the last 3 coming into tonight's game.

 

Holy Cross's 3 wins vs. CCH (since '97): Jan 4, 2000 (HC won 56 - 54); February 4, 2011 (HC won 59-54); and February 3, 2012 (HC 74 - 68).

 

Each time that Holy Cross has beaten Cov Cath it has been during the regular season. Each time Cov Cath has beaten Holy Cross later that season in districts.

 

Actually I can only confirm that Covington Catholic is 25 - 3 against Holy Cross since '97. They have played 29 times since then, but KHSAA website does not have a score for January 8, 1999. Any BGP'ers remember that game? CCH went on to beat Holy Cross in the District Championship that year (46 - 34 at Holmes). CCH would later make it to the regional finals before getting spanked by Highlands in the regional finals 58-37.

Completely agree and i think another Colonel is wide open for a three.And HC just kept jacking them up.Congrads to CC and their coaching staff they completely dominated the coaching aspect of the game poor effort on Coach Geotz behave.

I didn't think that there was anything glaring in regards to coaching that stood out. This was a really fun game to watch. Players were stepping up left to right making big plays. I thought HC was trying to get CCH scrambled a little more in the halfcourt with some trapping man as well as some diamond and one, but many times they would leave someone open.

 

Wake Forest was there to see Campbell.

I don't see a high major level for this kid at this stage. He is a skilled kid but I try to envision what he would do with players of comparable size. I see him struggling, in part that he doesn't have that explosion to his game. He still needs some work with his post up game. As much as many complained from the stands regarding officiating, I think CCH was able to get away with a lot of use of the hands on him in the post. Campbell seems to post one way and doesn't repost to get open. He also tries to do too much with one hand. However, to his credit he does have some skills that he will be able to build upon. Nice touch and does a great job of blocking shots without fouling.

 

The zone limited touches for AC. i was surprised a bit he didnt get more looks from 3.

They did a nice job of limiting his looks and I thought CCH was able to get away with using their hands on his back in the post. In the games I have seen Campbell, most of his threes come from the key area and CCH covered that well.

Bingo! I bet Ruthsatz about had an attack when Frederick launched a three up two with HC trying to foul, in first OT, I believe.

 

HC has a really nice team but will struggle against teams that have multiple ball handlers. They are not very strong in the halfcourt on defense, in my opinion. They try to make things chaotic but if you can handle the ball through a couple of traps you will get open looks. I also thought HC got tight and a little gun shy when the game got late.

 

That is the first time I have seen Dan Henry officiate a high school game in forever. Has he been officiating all year or was he called into duty because of them playing at NKU? I believe Dan was an OVC official in his younger days.

Rob Lohr is simply a bad official. Really bad.

 

Credit HC for a great year. They have overcome some turmoil and far exceeded their expectations, I would think.

25-3 is a stunning record.

Too bad both of these teams are not advancing. What an interesting turn the District took when Holy Cross had to postpone that Holmes district game after they dominated the first quarter. Too bad Cantrall doesn't have to plug this bug into his computer model. And it really is too bad we never got to see the Dixie, Holy Cross match up during the season. Could have been a good one.

 

Good luck to Covington Catholic and something tells me the rest of the Region is breathing a bit of relief the Indians are gone. And if you happened to miss this game, that really is just too bad for sure, it reminded me of the Region final last year.

Sory not a CCH fan, and honestly I wasn't saying anything against the kid just pointing out to Se Se that Campbell isn't the only player who played in thisgame that didn't go to a Catrholic high school in NKY.

IMO it doesnt matter where those kids went to grade school. The only thing that matters is they are ruled eligible by the KHSAA whether we like it or not. I think the Campbell transfer was a little dicy considering the timing of it officially. I know the rumors were flying around all summer about him going to Holy Cross.

 

The Ruthsatz transfer very legit and was a package deal just in time for the Colonel hoops program.

So remind me, why does it matter where these kids went to grade school?

I would like to know where the CovCath boys all went to grade school. Old Guy if you have a minute and can post please do. I know Frederick and Tobler went to Blessed Sacrament.

Doesnt matter where they go, no kidding. I sometimes will see kids in the 7 or 8 grade leagues. I just had never seen him before him showing up all of sudden. It is interesting to see them develop from grade school to high school.

I'll definetly agree that the situation wasn't ideal, but the original plan was for him to start the year of at HC. Don't know what happened to that plan, but he ended up being cleared to play by the KHSAA and that is good enough for me.
