I certainly never thought they'd be where they are. They have had teams in the past that were vastly superior IMO, but underachieved. What this year's squad has accomplished, regardless of postseason performance, has been incredibly impressive.

 

Agree 100%. I knew we would be competitive and a contender for the regional title, but to be 24-5 with our schedule and ranked in the state.... and the team to beat in the 10th.... that has been was more than I expected.

I think the biggest key to thier success has been Charlie Rogers. Stenzel and Fatkin have played tremendously (as expected), but Rogers has done so many little things (Defense, Steals, Rebounding) that he has been the X-Factor that has been Key for the Cards. He seems to be really picking things up as they get ready for the playoff.s

Agree on Charlie. Lately he has really stepped up his game. Us GRC fans already knew what we would get from Stenzel and Fatkin. Also a big suprise has been Taylor Howard. From playing at the Y to a starter his Senior year. Then add in the defensive play of Vancleeve and he can score some from the 3, has made a difference. This team too will had a special place in my heart.

Question for gold sunrise when GRC new school is completed is its gym going to be large enough to host the 10th region tourn. and get into the rotation?

When HC played @GRC in 2006, I remember the gym being pretty big. Just looked it up on KHSAA...4500 capacity, not big enough to host a Region tournament?

I know they are build a brand new high school jsut out of town on 627 should open this next year. That was the one I was asking about.

Sorry, read that wrong, I took it as you were saying their "old" HS gym wasn't big enough to host a Region.

I said in December Harrison County wins the 10th and although I agree CC is the prohibitive favorite I'm sticking with my prediction. Remember, HC almost beat CC last year in the region and talent comparison would have predicted a 40 point blow-out.

Clark County, at 1700 students and growing, is the largest school in the region by a good bit and at least 2 times larger than most of the schools in the 10th including Mason County. They should be extremely competitive every year with no excuses.

From what I understand there will be no gym at the new school. Only an auxillary gym for PE classes. All middle and high school games to be played at the current location.

You are wrong on that there will be no new gym. There will be a new gym at the high school....just not right now. New Gym is in phase 3. Untill it is built all GRC's games will be where they are now. ( Which will be the middle school) New Gym won't be built untill we get the area Tech Center built, as will as other academic areas on our facilities plan.
