Yeah. Randy let it slide for a little bit and then responded later. I like how Randy said you were my mentor and then the Hall of Fame parting shot. Nicely done.

 

What's really funny is that Tedy Bruschi spoke highly of Randy and addressed his lack of motivation at times without castigating him. I guess Randy wasn't as tight with Cris as he thought.

Randy has given great sound bites over the years about how he plays when he wants to play. I think that is the main reason the focus on him being a quitter is so high. I've seen other players act the same way but it is an issue when Randy does it because of his famous sound bite.

I could be remembering wrong, but didn't he used to openly admit he'd take off plays when he knew he wasn't getting the ball? Don't remember too many other WR's making the same statements. He kinda brought the whole Quitter stigma on himself.

The question was....do you need anyone to motivate you to play? His answer was...I play when I want to play.

 

 

That can be taken a million different ways(okay maybe not a million) but those words are the only one part of this exchange and those words have tainted how some view him regardless of their context.

His last year was a train wreck. I wouldn't want to go out like that. I hope he gets a chance to redeem himself but you are right. It is going to take a lot of convincing for him to get a team. We'll find out how much he wants to play.

Would you like to see the Bengals go after him? As I said before I am torn on rather if I would like him here or not.

 

No way, the Bengals just got rid of most of the problem children, no way do they turn around and add one.
