I definitely agree with the pitching part of this statement, Conner has a nice mix of righties and lefties with some experience. Definitely will help out. However, I'm not so sure of how their hitting is going to look with their returning players (especially the seniors, as juniors last year, they were not relied on offensively). Add in the new BBCOR's, and it may be time to go to the small ball a bit more. Arlo will figure out the team and have them ready to battle for the 33rd.

This really revolves around LEADERSHIP wildcat. Hopefully someone will be able to step up and fill that role. Now I'm going to show my age. The Big Red Machine was a great team top to bottom. Once they got rid of their "Leader" "Tony Perez" they were never the same. Not saying Roberts was a Perez, just trying to show how a Leader can affect a team. JMO!

Just curious. Where was CONNER picked to finish last season? They had a fine season and were VERY close to making it to Lexington, right? I think they like playing with a chip on their shoulder. Beat some really good teams last year and I think most would agree they were a surprise to make it to the 9th Region final. Based on what they have coming back, I think they will contend once again. People will hear about some new names that they have not heard about yet. Conner has some really talented young kids that will contribute this season. Good Luck to the Cougars this Spring.

I have no idea of Conner's returning players but I will agree that last years team was driven to succeed by Roberts. I don't know the young man but from watching my son playing against them and watching him some last summer with the KY Col's, he was the one who kept everyone loose and "into the game". They may have another player that can do that this year but IMO Conner overachieved last year a bit and he was a big part of it. The 33rd, as well as the 35th, will be tough as usual. I can't wait to see the boys start playing.

Talked to a parent from Scott and they like the hire of Jeff Trame and said Jeff has a nice staff assembled and really bragged on this young team with their ability to hit the ball and having great speed. Scott's big challange will be finding a rotation they dont have a legit Ace and they need to be better with the gloves this year. Reed Spata is a good young player.

Their rotation will include a couple of underclassmen this year, so they will have some growing pains to deal with but i'm sure they'll be alright by end of the season. The big thing to mention though is that the Eagles will have to play with out 1st baseman Pete Ohmer for the first 7-8 games of the year. Ohmer broke his hand during basketball season this year.

Should be decent, with Best, Ohmer, Pike, Spata etc.

Is Kramer able to play?

When did Spata become a pitcher?

I wouldn't expect Best to pitch that much but he will get his turn from time to time. And Kramer was cleared to play last week.

How will Campbell county be this year?

Not sure anyone knows at this point. They lost most of their '10-'11 team with 8 starters graduating. Along with that, went a great deal of their pitching from last year. With all that being said, if they can find some pitching, they should put a decent team on the field as there were several talented players sitting in the wings behind last years very talented class.

If I remember correctly from the first coach's poll, they were right around 7 or 8 in NKY.. Probably around the same spot they will be at the start of this year (not that I agree with it, but that's just how things go).

I'm expecting Boone Co. to have a good season with Teegarden returning.

Just like in Basketball getting out of the 35th is going to be tough.

My only change would be moving Conner up to 5. While Teegarden is indeed a stud, not quite sure about the rest of the team on the "D" side of the ball and as I have said Pitching and Defense will win the Ninth Region this year.

It will definitely be interesting to see how the Rebels will gel and rally around Teegarden. They have the potential like a lot of teams in the 9th to do well but they also have the potential to fall apart as well. Should be a fun year.

Not showing to much love for Conner? 2 years ago the JV won the 9th as sophomores. As juniors made it to the championship game. Now as seniors you have them listed 7th? Mendoza do you really follow high school baseball? By the way they also knocked out Cov Cath last year.

No offense Wildcat but you kind of sound like a Conner parent. I actually like Conner this year as well. I think they could go deep in Regionals again. But its so early that I also believe that to be true for about 6-7 teams. One thing is for sure, they will be competitive. I root for all of the Boone County high schools. Born and raised. 45 years now.

I agree with Roman Empire. My buddy's kid plays ball for Conner and one of the "old" guys that goes to a lot of the games said the same thing. I hear there is a couple of underclassmen that could really help their squad. And word is that their Freshmen and 8th grader's if they can keep them intact will be a force in a couple years.

They definitely over achieved last year. But who says they can't make another run ? I am not as sold on their pitching depth as some are either. This team will go as far as Freese and Maines takes them. I still believe its Cov Cath's and Holy Cross' to lose. You have no idea how I hate to admit that. But that is why they play the games.

Smiley should also contribute this year.
