Week # 9 - No. Ky Coaches Poll

Featured Replies

I wasn't referring to anything about injuries. I just mentioned the Brossart/Holmes outcome versus the HC/Brossart outcome, etc. since your logic was since Holmes beat HC then they should automatically be ranked ahead of them...Injuries are always a major part of the outcome of games of course. I agree polls are just to debate. My top 3 this week if I had a vote would be:

1. Holmes

2. HC

3. Dixie

* While I agree Dixie has played a very difficult schedule, they seem to have gotten a pass all year just bc they played that tough schedule. I mean 8 losses is still 8 losses. To be considered a good team or the top ranked team in this area don't you have to win a couple of those difficult games? Just asking...

Fair enough and very legit points.

I just think regardless of Dixie's schedule, they are still undefeated in the 9th region and in NKY so they should be #1 until proven otherwise. Tonight could back up your ranking....who knows.

Dixie does have 8 losses, but I ask you this....if Holy Cross played Dixie's schedule, do you think they'd be sitting pretty with just 2 losses? I'll be the first to admit, Holmes would probably have the same record, or worse. Maybe I'm not giving them enough credit, but Dixie's schedule is absolutely brutal. Heck one team had a front court that went 6'8, 6'8, 6'5.

Agree 100% about the schedule. If HC and Holmes played the exact schedule they have similar records.

Good Luck tonight against the "Red" Colonels.

Dixie only beat Lloyd by 2. Every team has a headscratcher now and then.

Couldn't this possibly be said about our loss to Holmes almost three weeks ago? I mean, is it a foregone conclusion that Holmes is better than HC? I am curious to see what happens on a neutral floor in a possible District Finals matchup.

Brossart wouldn't beat Holmes today. You're talking about a game that was at the beginning of December.

Couldn't the same thing be said about our loss to Boone County. I mean, our team was not at full strength then. A couple of our football players at the very least give us more depth for that game and at the very best make our team better. Our record is who we are nothing more, nothing less. I could sit and break down your schedule to see how you we would fare against it and break down our schedule to see how you would fare against it. It is a moot point because neither of us played each other's schedule and it is all conjecture as to our opinions of who would beat who on our schedules.

Bottom line is let's just see what happens if and when we meet again. I think it will be interesting.

Boone game occurred at the beginning of the year, which is why you won't hear me bring it up when talking about HC. The Indians have gotten much better since that game.

I NEVER said anything about HC schedule. Their schedule has probably been tougher than Holmes' as well. I was referring to Baseball Nut comment that Dixie shouldn't be #1 because of 8 losses. I was just trying to justify that Dixie has the record they do because of how brutal their schedule has been and that I could see Holmes or HC having a similar record if they played the exact same schedule...as you said though, moot point.

As for the Holmes/HC debate, I've said all along that it's all about match ups. HC very well could be the better TEAM but Holmes is the one team in this region that they match up with the worst. Why? Holmes has guards that can handle the HC pressure and also have a legit "big man" in Dontel Rice that can consistently rebound with Campbell. Knox is also a wide body that is able to be physical with Campbell and become a mismatch for the other HC players if TC is in foul trouble.

I'm with you Statman. I'd love to see a rematch...but considering the way Holmes beat them ON HC FLOOR...it's just tough for me to justify them being the better team....AT THIS POINT.

It could be said that any given night the other team could win, which would be true. These are two very good teams that are fun to watch and talk about. Thats what makes the games fun to watch.

The injury being part of the game comment was ment to stir things as it did. But all and all it was still a lose and that was an excuse, a giod but still one.

Can someone post the most likely scenario for the District tournament? Who will Holmes, HC and CCH face in the first round? Can the outcome of the CCH/HC game change anything?

The only thing that could prevent Holmes v Beechwood and HC v CCH in the district is Beechwood beating HC.

Anything can happen in high school bb, but not likely that Beechwood beats Holmes. Assuming Holmes takes care of business and beats Beechwood, then if HC is beat by CCH in the opening round of the district tournament, does that end HC's season? And, of course, the same for CCH losing to HC in the opening round of the district?

One and done...district champ and runner up go to region tournament.

IMO Dixie should be #1 until a NKY team beats them.
