Pompilios Opening In Independence

Featured Replies

I believe their Lasagna is one of the favorites. I am not a big lasagna fan. My favorite is the meat filled Tortellini. Their Antipasto is also very good.

Here's a little twist (if my failing memory isn't mistaken): when the Pompilio family owned the restaurant they didn't serve Lasagna because they didn't have the oven needed to bake Lasagna. I'm pretty sure that's correct. I'm picturing the kitchen in my mind and I can't see an oven. Perhaps there was one and perhaps they did serve Lasagna back then, but for some reason I don't think so.

Pompilios Homemade Lasagna

Pompilios Original Homemade Meat Sauce Lasagna

A house specialty for over 25 years! Homemade lasagna made with layers of pasta, seasoned ricotta cheese and our original meat sauce. $10.50

Restaurant was sold in 1980, which of course is over 25 years ago. I realize the menu said "over 25 years" but if it had been on the menu much longer than that, I'd guess they would have stated such since they were trying to play up the length of time it's been served. Hard to believe that the restaurant was sold 32 years ago. My how time flies.
