I believe it is smallest 125 in the state that accept the offer to play, ie., if Covington Latin does not enter they ask the next school in line. I also believe the contracts are for 2 years, bards town may be out next year.

It's not far off now, with only a couple of regions with very low participant numbers?? They have always been reluctant to move teams outside of their original KSHAA regions. Doing so would even numbers, but would mess with some traditional rivalries. Regions 11 & 12, along with possibly the 7th would end up with some very large schools participating under your plan. Seems to work OK as it is.

I like this, other than what StickerMann mentioned about regions 11 and 12. In those you're looking at 3 or 4 bigger schools involved. I'd also like to see who would be involved with those parameters. I'm pretty sure in the 10th, where there are 9 schools involved now that Brossart would be the odd man out as its the largest "A" school.

You may be right on this, unless Bracken County, Nicholas, or maybe Paris are larger?? No clue--I know Brossart is the smallest 2-A football school, which would mean only 32 schools are smaller, but obviously a lot of small schools don't play football. I've heard current numbers place them is the 25-27th smallest, again in football; but reclassification used several years ago numbers ('07-'08 I think?). Hard to not consider them a true "A" school, especially considering they are 13th on the list above??

Brossart ( by 11-12 enrollment figures) is slightly larger than Bracken.

Stan Steidel was instrumenal in developing the All A many years ago. I'm sure he is still actively involved even though he is the AD over at a rather large school currently.

This would allow schools a chance to win and build traditions. An example of this might be Garrard County. I do not think that they are in the ALL A now but really have never competed for a regional crown in basketball. This would give them a legitimate chance to win!

Under my suggestion you would only be eliminating 12 schools and adding 15 different ones. That is not that difficult to do.

The joke around Lancaster was former athletic director and girls coach Ken Hurt made new students delay enrolling until the All "A" numbers were counted so Garrard could remain in the tournament.

I like your thought process. I was just using your school because I knew it was in the 12th region. I agree with you about building a tradition and striving to be like programs that are successful and comparable in size.

I can do some research too, but off the top of my head...I think this would eliminate Lloyd, St. Henry and Holy Cross from Region 9.
