Which PC player was involved? A big deal is being made about the transfers for SW. How many does PC have that should be at Somerset and how many were they unsuccessful at getting but did try to get? Not much difference in my opinion.

Always has happened, always will. Pulaski has ZERO kids that should be at Somerset. Yes, they have some kids that went to middle school in the city but came to Pulaski once high school started. By living in the city, you have a CHOICE of what school you go to. You are not "supposed" to be at Somerset. If you were to send every kid to the school they were "supposed" to be at, all schools in this town would be dramatically different. I have no problem with this year's recruiting class at SW. Steve Wright and his staff have been on the road and just seem to be outworking the other schools in town.

Just how does that work that you can live in town and go where you want but can't live in the county and go to the city unless approved? I'm not real clear on that. Are you?

If you live in City of Somerset, you are still in Pulaski County. Therefore, you have the option to go to any school you choose(something to do with county taxes). Supposedly, once you establish a high school that's where you have to stay. As far as county kids going to city, there are a certain number of kids that can go to the city schools from the county. Not sure on the exact #, 150-250.

They are father and son. The son has been reffing for a few years now. I don't know how often they ref together but it was the first time I had seen them ref in the same game.

I dont have a rooting interest one way or another however I dont think its appropriate there is too many opportunities for the human aspect of taking up for your family if one of the two is getting heckled by the fans and that isnt right for either team .

Thanks maroon fan, I had heard that but thought it was unusual. There were some fans before the game that had mentioned it and did not think it was a good idea. That is not a everyday occurrance, and probably not a good time for the KHSAA to do that for the first time, if it was the first time, in a cross town rivalry with 5000 fans at the game. And then after the smoke clears the visting team shoots 48 free throws and the home team shoots 25, your just asking for there to be controversy. With that being said, I want to be clear I am not suggesting anything inappropriate, I just have to agree that is not a good idea in my opinion. Also maroon fan I would like to say I thought Pulaski really came out of the gate ready to play and had the look of an experienced team, I thought some of their younger kids handled the pressure of the game very well and I was impressed with the progress they have made since earlier in the year.

Actually, those leaving in the city can go to the county to school with permission of the principal. It is not automatic. However once you begin playing sports at the high school, the only way to be eligible at another school is for the parents to actually move. Don't really know how the kid that played at SWHS last year and transferred back to SHS was eligible this year. To my knowledge both parents still leave in the same house they lived in when the student was enrolled at SWHS.

Sounds like Scott and Kyle Bottom. Love those guys. Love that family.

Scott Bottom is a class guy and one of the better 12th region refs, IMO. He is well respected and takes his job on the court seriously. He has represented the 12th region multiple times in the Sweet 16. He has passed this mentality on I his son as well. If there is anyone who can handle it then those two guys can. I know it means a lot to them when they are on the floor together. Kyle began refereeing high school games last year and I could be wrong but I don't think they have had more than 2-4 games together as a crew.

I dont know the father and son personally as you do. I have seen them referee on a couple of occassions and have always thought they did a pretty good job. I was not questioning their integrity. I am a Southwestern fan so maybe I am a little bias, you know the family personally so perhaps your a little bias. I had seen where Pulaski played Clinton Co and the stats were something like 48 to 17 in free throws, I wasnt there but that is a little lopsided in my opinion and from post I saw on here the Pulaski fans certainly thought so. The stats in the Pulaski-Southwestern game were 48 free throws to 25, in my opinion that is a little lopsided. If Clinton Co or Pulaski Co had a 610 guy and were craming the ball inside, I could see a bit more free throws for either team, but I think Clinton from what I hear is more of a jump shooting team and ceratinly Pulaski is more of a jump shooting team, you usually dont have that kinda differnce with a jump shooting team. I think there were some people who were a bit aggervarted when the Kapinga kid goes up for shot and gets hit in the eye and no foul and then they have to call a time out on the floor to clean the blood up. With all that being said, once again I will say I thought Pulaski came to play and played a great game and congradulations to them, and if it were the Bottoms family refereeing then I have seen them before and thought they did a good job in some games, I am not questioning anyones integrity, just putting up some factual stats of the game and was curious if anyone had seen a father and son referee in a game and if they were actually father and son.

It's all good. I am admittedly biased but I thought I would offer some background on them since I had some. I didn't take it as you or anyone questioning their integrity. If I didn't know them personally I'd have the same questions as everyone else.

 

The free throw disparity is definitely strange. In both circumstances. Funny how it works like that. I know I would take the Bottom's and Tony Gray as my crew over any other three with Lonnie McGuire and Mark Bryant close behind them. I like the bald muscular referee also. Those are my 6 favorite 12th region refs BY FAR!!!!!

I was at the game and IMO they shouldnt work together it causes too much controversy and can be avoided if they dont work games together I am sure they are both good people its not personel I just think its not appropriate.
