Thanks purple pride, I do enjoy looking at some of your post, you seem to be knowledgeable and I do like reading your post. None of us on here are gonna always agree with each other and thats fine, I dont want anyone to ever think I am attacking anyone personally. I know refs are just human like everyone, good days and bad days, but most of them get paid a small amount to take their time and efforts because they like the sport and enjoy seeing the kids grow up and become good men. Thats admirable.

I maybe ready to but open the debate again after PCHS narrowly beats Mercer at home......PCHS is hard to figure out man....when they are on though they are on....when they are not....they are not....

Yeah, a former PC person, or THE PC person has been assisting Wright the last few years. Not on the bench, in other areas. One of the best in the history of KY high school basketball.

Purple pride I dont know very many of the refs names but there are some in the 12th that are as good as anywhere. Of course there are always gonna be different opinions in games, with all the games you see on youtube, I never understood why no one puts games on youtube. I am sure all the games get taped, maybe its a khsaa thing or something or maybe no body has took time to do it , maybe someone can check and see if there is any legal issues. I think it would be great to see the games on youtube, it would give the kids that can play some great exposure and when there are different opinions of how games are called it would be right there on youtube for everyone to make up their own minds.

I was at the game and IMO they shouldnt work together it causes too much controversy and can be avoided if they dont work games together I am sure they are both good people its not personel I just think its not appropriate.

 

 

Causes controversy how? If they proved to not be competent together wouldn't they lose their job or at the very least the chance to work together? Wouldn't that also fall on the person scheduling the crews? It is my understanding that they have no control over that? I'm sure if it proved to be a problem it would be fixed but there has to be a better reason other than being father and son.

Thanks for the compliment. The feeling is mutual. I enjoy talking 12th region basketball with others who follow it like I do. There seems to be more and more people from the 12th on here everyday and I love it.

 

 

I couldn't agree with you more on the refs. I get embarrassed by the things a lot of fans say to the refs and everytime I say something to a ref I do so in a joking manner. These guys put up with a lot and they are doing the best they can. Granted there are some when I see them I say...'uh oh' but I do admire them for their hard volunteered but paid work because I don't know if I could do it. Shoot, I work the clock for Boyle home games and I have given a few fans an evil eye for yelling at me about an honest mistake so I know I wouldn't last a week as a ref. :lol:

No doubt. The Mercer score was eye opening. Just more proof that the top three are the favorites but not overwhelming favorites. The tourney is going to be a lot of fun and Mercer just proved that PC is beatable at home.

I do know that it seems like all of our Boyle home games are on ihigh. Haven't seen them on the road much but they seem to be at all of our home games.

I have watch ihigh.com some too, I think that is great idea. Most schools have websites nowdays, how hard would it be to pay someone a little extra money to download all of their baseball, soccer, football, basketball and all sports games to their sites. I just think it would be great exposure for some of the kids on all the sports teams that dont play aau to get some great exposure, who knows if it helped one kid to get a college scholarship it would be worth it. Plus I am sure there are some tax paying grandparents, fans etc that cant make all the games due to work, health or whatever the situation may be. Plus I think there are times when kids, coaches and even refs dont always bring their A game, it wouldnt take long for word to get out the games were on the internet and that helps EVERYONE to bring their A game. Plus I might be a little bias but what great exposure it would be to show the Ky sweet 16 on the internet, I cant imagine many high school tournaments that bring that kinda exciting crowd. I think it would great exposure for everyone, just a win win situation for everone. I understand not posting the games live but I cant say how anyone would have a problem with putting the taped games on line.

I as well as you are not sure who picks the officials to go to the particular venue with that said there were a couple of examples of what I am talking about during the game I am not sure if you attended game or not . The first example was both coaches were working the officials as all good coaches do and in particular the young official and on particular call the father ran over to the coach whom was talking to his son and seemed to be taking up for him which leads me to my point I am not sure if you are a father but I feel when you have both father and son officiating it is the human instinct to defend and take up for your son and thats where I see there could be issues also there was one call when the younger official made a good call and it was under the basket and it was his call to make however he was overruled immediatly and the call was reversed which I couldnt figure out because the other official was not even close with that said I am sure both are very good officials as well as people and IMO its not a good idea because it really opens up the potential for issues in the future .

I hear you. I was just curious as to your reasons. I'd have to have been at the game to offer perspective on the calls. Other than saying that I know them isn't a good enough explanation or perspective. I could also see the father running over to the coach to correct his son as well not just defending him so it kind of goes both ways. My human instinct with my sons would be to defend them if I felt they were being threatened but chances are I am running over to make sure they didn't mess up or tell the coach something wrong. :lol: Thanks for the insight though. I have yet to be at a game where they are both on the same crew. If I get that chance I'll definitely keep an eye on that dynamic. I trust them but I know them personally so that makes a difference for me but with those examples you gave I do see where there is a legitimate concern for controversy.

That is too bad. If PCHS plays the way they can they should be going to Rupp, but they need atop playing down to the level of their competition. They are too good to have 7 losses and narrowly beat Mercer at home, they are way to good.....
