Winter Weather Advisory for 1/12/12-1/13/12

Featured Replies

I just took the trash out and it's awful out there! About an inch of snow (hard to tell with the wind blowing it around) and our side road is covered. Still snowing pretty hard as well.

Been pretty mild here in Bardstown. A few squalls here and there, but there doesn't seem to be much more than about 1/8 inch of accumulation.

I just drove from Richmond to Owsley County and the roads were in good shape. Road crews have done a nice job. Not even a half inch of snow, but went through several miles of heavy flurries (if there is such a term, lol).

Made it to work just a couple of minutes after my normal time after leaving a few minutes early. For the most part, all was well. There was a stretch with some ice on it and I almost slid through a red light (at a very low speed). The 4 wheel drive behind me I suppose decided that he could drive a little faster than me since he had a 4x4, but that doesn't help on ice. He ended up going off the road beside me to keep from rear-ending my vehicle. I was watching his approach in my rearview, ready to be upset.

Wasn't too bad a drive overall for me this morning. I-64 was pretty good. I dropped in behind a semi and we went between 50 and 65 for the 65-ish miles that I was on I-64. Once I got off onto 37/145, though, it got a bit rougher. The area around Patoka Lake was tricky, but of the 23 miles from I-64 to work, only about half was tricky. My biggest challenge was the guy in a truck with his brights on who road my butt for about 12 miles before finally turning off to head toward Jasper. THAT ticked me off!

I don't mind snow, but I could've done without the frozen locks on my car this morning. To those of you that have them: never take your garage for granted.
