Dunbar job and Johnny Poynter??

Featured Replies

Heard some very interesting rumours that Johnny Poynter was seen at Dunbar doing some walk throughs. He would be a fine hire for them. He could bring stability back to a program that has tons of potential. He is also able to take doormat programs and make them a winner. If he was given a chance, showed respect and support,(something he did not get at Bourbon) he would be loyal and stay there and build a winner. With what he did at Trimble and Bourbon, he could turn them around in a couple of years. I guess we will see how this all shakes out.

Who saw him? When? What is a walk through?

Going from one nut house to another... If I were him I'd run far away from that school! Dunbar is horrible from what I hear of ppl who have been there.

Good for Coach Poynter, if this is where he wants to be. I still cannot for the life of me figure out why a school whose football team hadn't had a winning season in 10 years and had their first playoff victory lets the coach go that was responsible. Hopefully, PLD will hire Poynter and let him do what he does best - coach football and win games. :thumb:

That is not what Dunbar does.

a tour

A tour like on Gilligan's Island...three hour tour. I couldn't resist.

On a more serious note. Are you saying he was interviewed or offered a job?

Did he leave Trimble on his own or was he asked to leave? Just curious.

I believe the talk back then was he was aske. Maybe Knute Rockne might know. What about it?

I can tell you for a fact that Poynter left Trimble Co on his own accord, to take the job at Bourbon Co.

That kind of makes more sense to me. Thanks for your info. So did Poynter get the Dunbar job offered to him?

He left Trimble on his own, last time I talked to him he was living in Richmond and had applied for the Madison Southern job a few times but did not get that spot. Also, I think he would do a great job at Dunbar if they would leave him alone and let him do his thing, something it sounds like Bourbon didn't do.
