The top tier kids in the south will still choose the UGA,UF, Miami, Bama, LSU, FSU, etc. Urban will gets his fair share of good talent in the south but the majority of the Souths blue chippers will stay in the south.

 

May be true but if the SEC teams had the same recruiting restrictions the Big 10 has they would not have room for all of these players. There are plenty of talented players in the midwest and dispite what some think, players are not faster just cause they grew up in the south.

I agree for the most part, but I don't think Meyer has to clean house in the south. He'll do that in OSU's traditional recruiting bases. What could push OSU up another notch is whether he can identify a select few targets in the south and land them. I don't think that is out of the question.

I like Meyer and dislike the Buckeyes (well more their fans ), but it's not going to be an instant fix and for the most part, "speed" athletes generally enjoy playing in warmer weather. It'll be a tougher sell for him than it was at Florida. He'll be successful but these dreams of Grander need to be tempered a little

Don't disagree there. If he can dominate the normal recruiting area and get a few key pickups from the south, they should have a good chance at dominating the Big Ten.

I disagree that OSU is a tougher sell than Florida. OSU is one of the most storied programs in college football and you throw a top notch recruiter like Meyer in and he will have no problem bringing in elite talent. Check out the NFL rosters, there is and always will be talent at OSU. I think Meyer being the recruiter that he is just took it to a new level. Look at the number of players who are making visits to OSU since Meyer has been hired. Davonte Neal, Stefon Diggs, and Cyrus Jones are all "speed" ahtletes and on the defensive side Noah Spence and Adolphus Washington are the speed rushers that OSU has been lacking for the last few years.

What's more appealing, Gainsville, FL that has Tampa, Orlando, Daytona all pretty close, sunshine and girls in bikinis 9 months of the year OR Columbus, OH with nearby Akron, Toledo, Cleveland and Sandusky with ugly girls in Parkas . Yea go ahead and open that pipeline from the Glades to C-bus :lol:... Meyer will dominate the big 10 but he won't have the overall team speed that he had a Florida and anyone who thinks he will is delusional...

I think Meyer is best known for trying to put the most athletic team in the country on the field. Not all of his players were from the state of Florida or the South. Athleticism will be the least of OSU's problems going forward. He's the biggest superstar in college coaching along with Saban, he's going to have his pick of the litter as usual IMO.

Currently all FBS schools can only sign 28 prospective student-athletes from the initial signing date of the regular signing period through May 31.

Here's UF's roster from 2008, Meyers last Championship team. 7 or 8 players from the Midwest and Northeast combined. 2 from Ohio. The majority of the team from Florida. The rest were SEC states, Texas and Cali.

So Florida’s success had nothing to do with coaching, recruiting the right players, and scheme? Funny, considering how they did this year. Also funny how their fastest skill player in 2008 wasn’t even from Florida or that OSU had 6 starters this year from Florida, but of course NOBODY from Florida wants to go to Ohio State. Of course the majority of Florida’s roster is from Florida, just like the majority of OSUs roster is from Ohio or Texas’s roster is from Texas.
