Clay could get back in the No. 2 spot, but it has to play better and get healthier first.

 

Health wise I think they're good now. Attitude wise I'm not sure. As soon as the tigers decide to play defense they will solidify the # 2 spot. I suspect there will be better defense played tonight or you might see a change in the lineup at the Berea Tourney.

Good job, Les, but I think in your SL boys capsule you are overlooking the recent play of Trey Smith, who has really come into his own in recent weeks.

 

His Hoopin' It Up stats:

v. Knox Central - 13 pts, 8 rebs

v. Cawood - 22 pts, 6 rebs

v. Pendleton - 18 pts, 7 rebs

 

I've been very impressed with him so far this year and his major improvement.

Elam will have his Panthers right in the hunt for a district title come February and March.

Number 10 is about right for Lynn Camp they IMO are only two really bad quarters from being 8 and 0, the 3rd againest Bell and the awful 4th against Berea. You must really love the panthers to want them in the 10th spot, only one win so far. As for their district, compare the school sizes KC should dominate this district after this year for years to come.

I know from experience that it's impossible to please everyone with rankings. Just from my observations, I'd put Harlan and Bell higher and Cawood and Barbourville lower. I'd be really surprised if Pineville beats Harlan, at least this year. There's very little difference right now between Cawood, Bell, Harlan, Barbourville, Clay and Corbin for 3 through 8. Pineville, Cumberland, Lynn Camp, Knox Central and Middlesboro are also dangerous.

SO why is South Girls lower the North girls...did North girls beat South girls??? I do think Clay is the best team in the girls 13th right now...I got to see Gilbert put up 36 the other nite and become the all time scoring leader of Clay Co girls basketball....I think it will be a good game between Corbin and Clay..unless Gilbert decides to put up about 40 and thenn the Tigers will walk away with the win....

When a team consists of one player or so we're led to believe, I do not call that a team. That's why I don't believe Clay Co. is the #1 team in the 13th region.
