I would think so. I have heard he was offered the job previously when it opened and turned it down and then Larry French took it. I have never asked him that though so that is just hearsay. I can handle anyone from the current staff and/or Chuck Smith/Brandon Smith or anyone with Chuck Smith ties. Keep it in the family is what I say.

Not me. I don't know what went wrong during that time but I think whatever it was it is something they all know how to avoid repeating.

I agree. I was going to say more culturally than schematically but both are factors in my feelings. This scheme has been around a long time and ingrained in their heads for a while also but similar ideals, mindset and mentality are definitely the most important factors in hiring a new coach IF they end up having to hire someone.

These rumors originate from the principal of Boyle County High School. The person who relayed that info to me has no reason to lie, joke or fabricate anything like this. Everything I said about Coach French's son being let go by the administration and the spot being filled after the fact is true. You'd be naive to believe that Coach French isn't bothered by that. The only thing I do believe is that Paul Rains will not be the next coach of Boyle County regardless of when Coach French decides to retire or move on from Boyle County. You say the thread is useless and all I wanted to know if anyone else had heard this rumor that I heard way back in early August. Apparently a lot of people have.

I've known since the summer that it has been a tough year behind the scenes. There were actually a few other issues among supporters that heaped more pressure on French besides the employment issue for his son. Nothing huge, just stuff that should not have been a problem that suddenly became one.

 

I hope Larry stays but I would understand if he just wanted to enjoy life for a while.

Yeah, I am really glad I started this thread. I have learned a lot about some of the behind the scenes activities since I did. I am floored by the current climate and considering the environment the football program is in I am even more impressed with how they are able to focus on getting the best out of the boys each Friday. As a parent of kif who plays a sport at Boyle County I guess I shouldn't be surprised with the administration's actions. It is truly amazing the success the football program has with such little help from the administration.
