Awesome game. Holy Cross killed themselves all game long missed many layups and poor free throw shooting.

Sam Lawson caught fire in 2nd half. But fouled out right before overtime.

Regulation ended a Steeken 3 pointer to tie the game and HC won the game in OT by a buzzer beating shot by Lantry.

Nice win for the Indians!! They are a very good team, and will fight you to the end. Sounds like a great game. Any stats? This was at Dixie right?

No, all I can tell you for sure is Steeken probably led HC in scoring and Lawson lead Dixie.

Exciting game. Not very well played by either team. Both teams missed numerous inside shots.

Big shot by Steenken at the buzzer to send it to OT.

Busted play to win in OT. It looked like they wanted to get the ball to the left side but the PG couldn't get over there so he went baseline and for some reason didn't get much resistance from Dixie. Nice shot to win the game.

Lawson was a non-factor for Dixie. Outside of the 6 points he scored when Steenekn was out due to an inadvertant elbow, he wasn't involved in the offense very much other than passing it out to shooters.

Good to see HC finally make an effort to get the ball inside to Steenken in OT rather than letting him run around the 3 pt line. Dixie had no one physically strong enough to stop him inside. I was really surprised there wasn't more of an effort early on to get him the ball on the blocks. It would open up the outside for the rest of the guards.

Both teams made alot of mistakes and missed some easy shots particularily in the 1st half. Intensity picked up in the 2nd half and was a decent game between 2 pretty evenly matched teams. Make no mistake about it though, after Holmes and CovCath there is a huge dropoff in the 9th region. Coaches from both schools were their to scout and I doubt that they came away too concerned with playing either.

Congrats to the Indians and to D. Lantry on his last second layin.

Congrats, Indians! Both defenses provided plenty of excitement. Pretty good entertainment for the few bucks it costs to see a high school basketball game.

The student sections were a bit laid back. Kind of hard to figure since it was a barn burner.

Dixie still not hitting on all cylinders. They need to get over this tough loss in a hurry. The road ahead has more challenges in store.

:thumb: Would have to agree as neither student section seemed to ever get involved in the game and for that matter even pay much attention to the game until the end.

Very surprised that Dixie seems to not have too many fans at their games especially one against an opponent such as HC which always travels well and had a nice crowd at Dixie tonight.

1st time I've had a chance to see Busse play since he left Scott for HC. He still seems to be feeling his way out there and appears a little frustrated at times. I know his HC roots run very deep but at the end of his sophmore year I thought this kid was going to be one very good player who just might play at the next level. IMO had he stayed at Scott he doesn't miss out on his junior year and as a senior he along with the Howard kid would have made a pretty formidable tandem. Scott with Busse would have been as good as HC with Busse this year. I suppose that what I'm trying to say is the year layoff has hurt him. Hope he can get it turned around.

I thought the biggest mismatch on the floor was scruggs and whoever was guarding him.

IMO HC makes a mistake by not pounding the ball inside to the two strong boys - Scruggs and Steenken. The pentrate and kick it out just doesn't seem to work well. Scruggs and Steenken are both strong enough to post up . They both can then face up and make the defender defend. Their ball handling , especially Steenken, allows them to dribble and either shoot or pass.

Steenken is the key to this team on both ends of the floor. Period.

I would have to agree that its a 2-team race. Obviously, teams can improve but I don't think either of these two can compete due to a lack of an inside presence on either end of the floor. Their guard play is solid - not exceptional.

Right now, I'd say we will say either NC or HHS take the 3rd spot by season's end.

I agree. I also was kind of lost why they didn't pound it more. Dixie is going to struggle against Holmes and CCH who both were there and saw the weakness of Dixie down low. People like Greg Rice are going to have a field day.
