Recap on tonight's GOP debate. Thoughts and responses?

 

I almost felt embarrassed for Perry during his stumble. Regardless, it was comical. It was one of the "better" debates that has been aired so far considering they quit attacking each other. I was glad to see Gingrich address the pointless questions. Who do you think benefited from tonight and who didn't?

I still say it's Gov Romney's to lose.

I'm with Clyde. Mitt Romney and Gingrich were the ones to watch at the debate.

I didn't catch the debate, but I just saw the Rick Perry clip. If there have been cumulatively worse debate performances by a single candidate then I am not aware of it.

It's going to be Romney against Obama imo. All the other Republicans are self-imploding.

 

Romney is the GOP's best chance at unseating Obama.

While I admit to simply watching the clip on Perry, I would find it hard to believe the GOP would feel good about him in debates with Obama.

Gingrich said he would challenge Obama to a 3 hour debate with no moderator, I'd enjoy watching that.

Respectfully, but absolutely disagree. Mr Romney is not the best chance to unseat Obama. Romney would not rally and motivate the same voters that turned up for the last election and caused many to lose their seats. The same "tea party" movement that made an enormous impact in the last election would never be motivated and rallied by Romney. And I really do believe that "movement" is still alive and ripe to pick. Romney just is not the guy to attract and take advantage of that very present voting force. For this reason, if Romney is nominated, I believe he would be the worst chance to beat Obama.

I am a moderate democrat that voted for Obama last time, though I was undecided until Palin entered the picture. Romney is the only republican candidate at the moment that I would consider. There are quite a few like me.

I agree. Newt is highly intelligent but his challenge in a debate aimed at voters is to come across well. He doesn't. He comes across as a bitter old man. If the goal is to convince those that are not already in his camp that could be a challenge.

A new CNN poll shows Mr. Gingrich is only two points behind Mr. Romney.

I think they've got three candidates that could debate with Obama. Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and John Huntsman. The rest will get smoked.
